I'm increasingly of the opinion that anything you pay to learn should be done for free on your own time, college included.
You should take whatever courses your company offers to pay for and leave it at that.

If you're an assembly worker I bet you'd find a lot of it fascinating, and coming from that background you'd be a perfect candidate to be on a six sigma team. Talk to your boss about it and see if they'd be willing to pay.
Look for an book called the Toyota Way. Also read up on Lean principles.

Thanks for your 2 cents, completely irrelevant. My pell grants are paying for the degree and the portion not covered my employer is paying for. Didn't think I needed to spell this out for people as it has nothing to do with the thread. I didn't say
>help /biz/ im 20k in debt wat do

My company gives $2k a year for two year contract. If you don't stay for the two years, you have to pay the $2k back. If you want more than $2k you have to appeal to a higher manager and state your case.
I think I will look up the Toyota Way though. I know MFG is boring as fuck for people, but there's like zero competition from younger people. Being an expert in manufacturing to me seems like a very valuable skill set.
May I ask you what you do that you know about the industry? Thanks mate

Hell yes! The world is littered with mismanaged manufacturing. It may be one of the smartest things to study since you don't have to shoehorn it into a single industry.
I, for example, am a post graduate in wood science and by studying process improvement I don't lock myself into the timber industry which most of the bozos at school tend to do, or rather the further they study the smaller their spectrum become.

kek I can relate to that at my plant. They don't discipline people, and instead of disciplining people they slap a one size fits all solution that ends up costing a bunch of money.
I don't know the cost of these solutions vs simply disciplining, I suppose they do it so they don't lose their contract but it's ridiculous some of the things they do.
