What should I do to get myself promoted? I'm genuine #1 in the team and it's acknowledged by my manager but he says I need to wait a bit more. For me it seems like just playing the waiting game while I'm at a position I already outgrew. Should I imply I'm job seeking to scare them? We're already understaffed. Should I look for real? I genuinely like the company and manager, it's just getting a bit boring and pay is relatively shit.
Also general job/career advice thread I guess.

if you're young you should probably be more focused on getting drunk all the time and having a social life. your boss probably thinks you're a nerd and wouldn't do well in a position where you are in charge of other people.
if youre not getting paid enough, then yeah, leave if you can make more money elsewhere.
maybe your boss is stringing you along, or maybe you should wait. how long have you been working at this place?

I'm 28, almost 2 years now. I'm a tryhard and frankly I'd rather focus on development of career over social life which is mediocre in my case, anyway. The reason I'm reluctant to leave is because I've build a decent rapport in the company (and that's what my boss says anyway, that the company is growing, which is true, and he'll recommend me anywhere internally in the future).

oh yeah career is more important at 28, nevermind.
i'm gonna say be patient for now and learn the business as thoroughly as possible from your position.

Yeah, I guess that's what I'm gonna do unless a really good opportunity presents itself.
