I was just wondering what do you guys think would happen if somebody used advanced digital forensics knowledge to put a rootkit into the NYSE encrypting all the data into a AES-256bit crypto locker and delting the encrytion key. How would it effect the economy?

NYSE is backed up like for times daily. You're literally talking about it being down for a lunch break at worst.
