hey /biz/ i'm starting college soon and I wanted some opinions. I couldn't decide on what I wanted since I've had mixed feelings on various different majors that i wanted to pursue so I've just decided I'll settle with Software Engineering. I've been programming since 13 and it's just ridiculously easy so I'm wondering, is it a waste to get a sw eng degree if I already know a ton of shit about it? Should I try pursuing something else? and assuming i do go for the sw eng degree, can I use that knowledge to build my own software business? I really just feel like since it's so easy it might make me want to kms when im sitting in class learning shit i already know.
it's a fucking waste you picked software engineering.
best bet is to have strong knowledge in 2 different domains.

^ this is a shit answer
I have a fucking associates degree in music and a six figure job in the data sciences.
Listen OP the two most important things to learn in college, are how to study, and how to socialize/network.
Software engineering is a great idea. Just stay switched on

Take notes on everything your professor says.
Read his suggested reading material.
Scrutinize the sources he cites in class and the sources cited in the reading material.
Memorize key points.
Write things down.
Take pride in, knowing stuff.

You'll need to do this in the real business world, to a certain degree.
