Hey bros, checkout my idea for changing how we play sports. Money can made by advertisers etc. Tell me what you think, don't hold back:

A free community driven sporting activity network that will get communities to play sports together - both recreationally and competitively. The network will cover all sporting activities, where people will easily join up with fellow locals to engage in the sport together.

Players can join existing games that are in need of people, create their own game by starting a waiting list of people that’ll be ready once the player list is matched, create sports ‘clubs’, engage in local tournaments/competitive games (overseen by the company), local leaderboard stats for the competitive games, tools to help post video/pictures to social media, live stream match footage, among other things to keep the community actively involved.

For joining an existing match, there’ll be a variety of ways in doing so, some of which are:

Enabled Notifications phones that’ll notify when a newly available game is posted that matches the user’s interest.

Searching through a the full list of games being created active games that are being pinged out to the community. This will be done very easily, simply by clicking which sport, city, and skill set you’re looking for

Joining a Looking For Player list, which consists of people alerting the community that they’re looking for people to play with, a list that you’ll be able to scroll through and message any user that fits what you’re looking for

For creating a match, the user will select the traits of the game he wants, then when ready will ping it to the community so people looking for a similar game setup can join. When assembled, the user can change the status of the game to active & seeking players, active-closer, or disable it from being noticed by the community entirely, etc.

The service’s community features will be one of the driving factors for the service’s popularity:

The service will host tournaments and single one-off competitive matches for the community, which will put teams/clubs in a town playing against each other, cities vs. cities, states vs. states, etc. Stats and rankings will all be posted on the service as well

Creating a sport club will help group users together to help create a local network of players for that club, to more easily get together to play and practice in a familiar group.

Video recording/editing, picture taking features will all be included for specialized sport photos, along with uploading tools.

There’ll be a tab on the app/website that’ll feature allow users to watch live broadcasts of matches, being broadcasted by a user’s phone, laptop, portable device, etc. This will especially be used for broadcasting local tournaments.

How do you account for travel time and people's schedules? Is a group of people supposed to just sit around and wait until somebody shows up to play? Is this a physical building or just a social network service?

For travel time and when people will show up, it'd be up to them to schedule a game around everybody's time.

There'll be a Google map feature that'll alert the users on everyone's travel time, giving them an automated suggested game time

Its a service, used by app/website etc

And yeah, if somebody is late to the match, then the match would go on in some form until he shows up, or they'd get somebody else.

I think you're creating Meetup. Sure, you have some weird added structure which would be a slight detriment to actually accomplishing the goal of organizing spur-of-the-moment activities, but the basic principle is "Meetup, but for sports only".
