Yes mine is true. The Greeks were offered loans that were well beyond their creditworthiness because as a member state they were tied to the Eurozone economy as a whole, thus supported by the German industry. Greeks burnt through their loans without amortisation through the taxes. This could be sustained until 2008 when the bank sector collapsed and the junk-loans defaulted, it hit some a variety of EU economies but it devastated Greece. Greece was not allowed to default because Germany, France, Britain had given them loans to survive, this only fucked the whole thing even more up. Greece opted for Greexit, which would essentially be a default (Varufakis), but was threatened by Germany, France and Britain that it would have SEVERE consequences, so they were given one more loan to keep the austerity measures and stay in the EU. Then the migrant crisis happend.

Who is at fault, essentially the junk-loans given to Greece. You can say the Greek people for taking loans, but the same shit collapsed the USA in 2008, so the human idiotic behaviour is a general quality.

>Why did Germany think that was a good idea
Because the German banks had big capital in Greece already, if they allowed Greece to default without additional loans, they would lose it all. Meaning that if they use taxpayers money to loan it to the Greeks, the capital of their big banks that they have in Greece will be safe.

Greece had a third world financial system, but thanks to the wisdom of the lefties and globalists of the EU, they were allowed into the Eurozone, which put so much strain on it (a Greek-only currency would be near-worthless, which would help their exports and tourism greatly, but instead they're saddled with the expensive Euro) that it collapsed.

Fucking socialists, not wanting austerity and privatization because of the decisions of some corrupt politicians.
