If you're having to contact recruiters to ask for a job, you're either in the wrong field or you have no marketable skills. I have to clear my voice-mail on my work number once a week or it fills up with all the recruiters tripping all over each other to suck my dick. My LinkedIn is filled with messages from basic white bitches named Cattlyn trading on their tits and smile on the hopes I'll jump ship and they can make a commission off me.

I don't even respond, and yet they keep calling, month in month out.

Ffffffffffffffffffffffuck recruiters. If I wanted a different job, I'd be contacting my friends in the industry, not some prick whose entire career hinges upon convincing me to jump ship, no matter where.

I studied econ and german from a top 50 school, and maintain CISA & CISSP certs. The schooling is important for the networking, the certs are important for the regulators. The degree program could have been underwater basket weaving; I got the job because I was a sysadmin for my school's production implementation of our student enrollment platform while I was in undergrad.

Bottom line, if you want to stand out, go for the certs (isaca and isc2 both have good cert programs that are recognized industry wide) or do something interesting that's in the technology field. The degree is secondary; a couple of my coworkers didn't even have a bachelor's when they started, but they had relevant technical experience. They've subsequently gotten degrees, but my point is the field is wide open for people who demonstrate acumen.

Thank you. I actually have a bachelors in History, but if I could go back in time I would say fuck that. I hate teaching and realized law isn't for me. So now ive been checking out security analysts positions to see what I need to learn that doesn't involve another 2 years of schooling.

I'll definitely check out the places you listed. Need to get my fucking life and career on track already.
