Pretty much this. I was really idealistic as a teenager and in my early/mid 20's. Now that I'm in my 30's, I just want to carve out a comfortable living for myself, and anyone who gets in the way is just an obstacle.
Same goes for co-workers, I've been with the company for nearly a decade, I earned my role on the directors table; either get on my train or I'm going to get you fired.
And here I still have the guts to do the right thing, which can be plenty FTW depending on your POV.

Have you noticed/experienced any "issues" with those older than you in how they respect/interact with you?
It's been a mixed bag from my experience, leaning towards the negative. I've become reluctant hiring anyone older than, say 45-50. Yea, it's discriminatory (I believe 50+ is a "protected class") but fuck them. All the baggage they've accumulated over the years becomes "your" problem. Especially if they come from the corporate world of large companies. They know how to play "the game" getting hired and doing the least amount possible without getting fired.
Now I have a kink in my neck, thanks, OP.
Tall, athletic Jew here. I've fucked so many Jewesses it's unbelievable. The Israelis are the fucking best.
In terms of business ethics I like to make money, but I don't like to hurt or exploit others. If someone understands the deal and thinks it's fair then I'm willing to only offer them as much as they think their time and labor is worth.
