Shorting is ok in this environment as I see it,
what bothers me is that all the game is utterly rigged beyond all means(just habeeb: "LIBOR scandal", ), but we're talking monopoly funny money here..

The entire paper trading(now just digits trading) is a scam on poor taxpayers.

There are several HFT strategies, not all of them can be considered as "bad".
The more or less obvious bad ones are, for example, front-running and strategies using flash orders. Those should be illegal because it's basically stealing money from customers / investors.
