What are the best ways to minimize living expenses?

I want to reduce my cost of living to basically nothing so that I can live off of little labour/money and invest my time into the things that really matter.

Any advice for a Canadafag?

>What are the best ways to minimize living expenses?

Eat just enough to survive, never leave your house, only wear one outfit, only wear one pair of shoes, don't own a car, collect rainwater in buckets, steal toilet paper from public bathrooms, panhandle, dip your gum in cum so that it lasts longer with additional flavor

Hey man, good advice
>>
>>1234283
Housing is one of the biggest expenses incurred over a person's lifetime. Build yourself a tiny house on a trailer and learn how to repair shit on it, and make friends with someone who will let you plonk it on their land for free or next to it.
>>
>Comfortable bed
>Laptop
>Wifi
>Simple meals of beans and rice, oat meal and fruit for breakfast.
>4 pairs of jeans, 7 t-shirts, 5 dress shirts, 2 pairs of shoes
>deodorant, tooth paste, tooth brush
>Bus pass, uber
>Cheap room in shared apartment/house

Easy living, you don't need a lot to live a comfortable life.
>>
>>1234296
>Easy living, you don't need a lot to live a comfortable life.

I wouldn't really call that living. I'd call that surviving.
>>
>>1234297
>not being a consumerist retard is merely surviving, as opposed to living
>bases the value of his existence on how much he can spend.
>>
>>1234299
Not "basing my value" off of it but it is fun to buy nice things, man.

I like being able to afford cool shit on a whim. Being a "consumerist" is fun

Observe the chart.

In order of importance, you should cut down on housing, transport, and food if you want to live on the cheap.

These can be achieved in part by having a small house which is close to your place of employment.
>>
>>1234300
>Being a "consumerist" is fun
Enjoy your treadmill and eternal unsuccessful search for fulfillment in passing distractions.
>>
>>1234302

>>

You're never gonna make it.
>>
>>1234308
"Make" what?

What does that even mean?
>>
>>1234294
Remind me never to let you become my 'friend'.
>>
>>1234312

>>
>>1234312
>implying there aren't people who would let you keep a trailer on their unused property in return for you keeping it neat
>>
>>1234317
I can tell you're definitely speaking from experience and you're not just a NEET with dreams that aren't even close to this planet
>>
>>1234319
Well I don't speak from personal experience but I saw a YT vid where a dude convinced some other dude to let him build a little hut on his vacant land and live there for free in return for keeping the place neat, and he's since been living there for years with said arrangement.

Wouldn't you let someone live on your vacant land for free if it meant you didn't have to worry about it becoming overgrown and having to pay someone to maintain it for you?

Store you razor in a cup of water - blade will stay sharp for months

It means that whichever random anon was heckling you is salty because you have different opinions. As long as you're managing your finances responsibly, there's nothing wrong with allowing yourself to indulge. If that anon takes pleasure from other pursuits and would rather live an ascetic life, that's fine too.

Being a dick because you can't accept that other people want other things is just being a tard, though.

I did this for a year while studying. lived on about 1040 AUD a month so like 6-800 US in terms of living costs.

Now I make $8-1000 a week and do the same for the most part.
>>
>>1234301

>being a consumerist is fun
Being owned by banks into your 70s must be so much fun. Working your life away for a phone you can't afford to buy cash. You go champ...
>>1234296
I've been living like this for over ten years (except for suits, because exec job) lived and worked in 7 countries meeting great people from all over the world, while putting away ~50% of my income.
Another 5-10 years and I won't need to work anymore, although I'll probably keep going, just because I like my job.
>>
>>1234513
But I'm not owned by any banks. I have a positive networth. What are you talking about?

What's the point of money if I can't spend it on things I enjoy that improve my life?
>>
10 cents ? R u fucking insane?
>>
Whenever I can I ask for bags to use as garbage bags, always ask for more napkins, ask for salt/pepper/sugar/peanuts, anything optional and free.

Also I sold my smartphone, thats a fucking meme anyhow, an old phone without any idiotic apps that will make you loose focus and frugality

Thats my 2cents.
>>
>>1234511
Heavy food subsidies, lots of farmland, most modern/industrial farming going around. also your rent is cheap because nobody wants to live in your poor ass country.
>>
Hmm no one mentioned it yet:

Be homeless but with a gym membership.

You can exercise/shower/chill at the gym when you're not working/sleeping. Some gyms will provide you with a locker for your membership, so you'll have SOME safe space to store shit.

The showering bit is particularly important if you're wanting to keep/get a job.
>>
>>1234516
Because hedonism has a tendency to plateau, and then you're spending money just to stay at baseline. Hardly "improving your life".

That said, if you have the discipline, you can deprive yourself just long enough to where you'll actually enjoy shit again. Save money AND actually enjoy shit when you do drop money on it.
>>
dont marry and dont have kids
dont buy houses and buy used economy sedans
pirate everything
at that point every other expense is trivial
>>
>>1234600
thinking about getting a 2004-2008 corolla when I get back from a deployment. Thoughts?

I wanted a 2005 nissan frontier but realistically I don't need a truck and want to save shekels..

What would you all buy if you needed a commuter car that is reliable and good on gas? Not looking to spend much more than $6,000
>>
>>1234610
bus/job walking distance from home
>>
>>1234616
well that would obviously be ideal, but not feasible at this point for me. Im in the National Guard. Sucks I have to drive one weekend a month, but then again I literally get paid to go to college so can't really complain.

I'm definitely looking to minimize my commutes when i get home though
>>
>>1234610
corolla, civic, accord, etc. is great
i would get one 3 to 5 yrs old and under 100k miles so you could save up some more
>>
>>1234621
So would you prefer to opt for something newer like a 2009 or 2010 for a little bit more money.. say 7-8 grand... lower mileage.....

or go for a 2005-2006 for 4-5 grand with a bit higher mileage?

keep in mind im not up to date on current prices.. the above is merely hypothetical
>>
>>1234622
When buying a car just look at 2 things.

>price
>statistics about the car

if you buy a 2010 car for 8grand because "its shinny and new" and that shit let you down 3 times a year and ended up costing 3additional K/year, what's the advantage?

Get some old shit that just works/is easy to fix/is cheap to fix.
>>
What I did is cutting. Currently I'm testing different fasting protocols and cheap diets on myself. Cut down on housing? Thats dumb nigga since I enjoy window scenery and interior decoration. Also I'm not american so my pie chart of expenses would be like:

>20% transportation
>40% food
>40% rent

>inb4 save on transportation
I live in a dangerous city and I dont want to die.
>>
>>1234592
Where would you sleep? I really want to know the best way to be homeless.
>>
>>1234283
You actually have to decide what is worth more to you. Your time, or money.
> be me, 18
> poor family, in debts for years due to 0 money management also couldn't work before 17 (goddamn)
> europe so free uni
> pick one in the biggest city in the country
> apply to dorms
> stay at home for the summer holidays because 0 money
> next 3 months of summer holidays spent working in callcenter because it was the biggest money/quality of living solution
> lie to father about money earned to save up and not throw it off to his liking
> have enough to survive for 3 months in the dorms
> apply for scholarship for poorfags, get monies
> after 1st semester apply for scholarship for nerdfags, get monies
> have enough money from uni to support myself living alone but still live in dorms (free internet, water and energy yo)
> work nightshifts as lowest-level sysadmin for a year
> change jobs to junior developer
> still save money
Living at the dorms if you are in the EU or country that will actually pay you to study is the best solution. Fast forward 5 years now, I manage my family budget, we got out of debts, saved enough to go for a long year trip and not worry about anything.

Indeed. Unfortunately we're essentially in a post-scarcity society and the only way to keep the wheels of capitalism churning is if the multitude embrace thoughtless hedonism.

The overnight stay in manga cafes is for people who've stayed out drinking past the last train. Nobody actually stays in them longterm outside the imaginations of foreign journalists.

Seriously think about it. Why anyone would do that when it's so much cheaper to just stay at a hostel or guest house? Just look at the prices on the sign at the start of that video.

Looking around on the internet, they say park benches / parking lots / wherever other homeless people are. Also couch surfing / making craigs list ads asking for sleeping space in return for cooking or whatever.

Personally (I've never been homeless) I'd try and find a comfy roof somewhere that is a little awkward to get to (to prevent rightful and not-rightful people from discovering you), with no cameras, low reason for people to even go to it, and some rain cover if possible. Get there only at the latest non-awkward time before closing (if applicable). You'd raise some eyes at shops, showing up juuuust before they close but then not buying anything / being the only customer they'd pay extra attention to you.

>>1235367
So find a gym that doesn't have open showers, problem solved. I don't even have a small dick, I'm not even shy or ugly, and I'd still rather die than go to an open shower...

And? It's pretty sad when the "poor person" is living better than you are even with all your riches.

Besides, there's more than two extremes. Not sure why you idiots keep thinking you either have to be in a mountain of debt with a mortgage or collecting rainwater and stealing toilet paper out of bathrooms.
>>
>>1235427
>I will sure be happy with being able to spend my life doing whatever I want instead of working to get my next mortgage payment.

Pennypinching like a Jew isn't really doing what you like though.

Not sure where you got the idea that you have to either live like a borderline-homeless person or in extreme debt.

Like there's people in this thread unironically suggesting becoming homeless with a gym membership... Yeah that really sounds like "doing what you want", I'm sure the <$20k/yr savings are worth it.

Makes sense to not live like a normal person for a few years just to start living when you're older... I guess... if you really think about it and close your eyes it kind of makes sense... I suppose...

Did you know you can live your life everyday WITHOUT spending a dickload of money? Go back to the post I made about how I fill my day. I genuinely enjoy living minimally and bettering myself. I don't give a shit about status cars or nice watches. I'm happy with myself as a person. That's the most important thing to spend your time on. You should be able to still be happy even if you're living on the street. Life is not about abundance, it's about meaning. Although this will probably turn the topic to /lit/
>>
>>1235476
>You should be able to still be happy even if you're living on the street. Life is not about abundance, it's about meaning

Why work at all then? Just become a NEET and fake a mental illness to get infinite dole and live off $1000 a month never experiencing anything beyond 4chan and a fleshlight.

Seems a little silly to be living like a NEET but working like a non-NEET.
>>
>>1235445
Of course $1 million in your 20's is better than $30 million in your 60's. $1 million is enough to invest into the bond market and have enough to sustain a frugal lifestyle for the rest of your life.

Or are you one of those people who would blow it all on a Lamborghini and a down payment for a multi million dollar house and then spend the rest of your life being a wagecuck to pay it off?
>>
>>1235481
>Or are you one of those people who would blow it all on a Lamborghini and a down payment for a multi million dollar house

I would spend some of it, yes. I value experiences over just having a bunch of numbers in some bank's computer system

And I value my free time more than silly possessions that don't improve quality of life in any meaningful way.

>>
>>1235488
Why waste your limited time working to live in a trailer next to a bunch of rednecks?

I'm just giving you a suggestion to get even more freetime, if you became homeless you'd cut down even further on those pesky living expenses and be able to have nearly unlimited freetime(apart from sleeping of course).

Personally I don't even go to the gym or exercise in any way, I'd rather have more freetime to post on 4chan and watch CP. That's what life is really about.

Tips I could share during my saving phase.

Don't know your life, if you're living alone or have a support system (friends and family) whether you're male or female but any advice can help I guess. This advice is geared towards the male gender.

Ramen noodles will be your best friend for a while and pasta + regular sauce. If your workplace is close enough, I recommend biking, skateboarding or roller blading to work (if you have one of those, if not try to find some on craigslist for cheap) that way you don't put money into gas + insurance and is probably better than waiting for a bus. You'll get exercise and save money it's a win-win. But since you live in Canadaland you can only pull this off during hot season. Winter is a different story.

Withdraw a set amount of money for the week. Whether it be $60 or $100....just make sure it doesn't equal how much you make in a week otherwise you're not saving anything.

Use up said amount for the week, if you run out early you'll have to make sacrifices and hold out from pulling money until the week ends. I survived off $100/week for a while.

Stop watching movies in the theater - torrent them for free online. Same goes for books and movies and video games or go to a library.
(at my library you can actually borrow the latest games on the newest consoles)

Wear a timeless outfit and cut your own hair (saving $20-$30 each time you cut it yourself add ups to a couple hundred a year), get an electric shaver for your face (you'll save money in the long run, razors are mad expensive). Unless of course you use a safety razor and buy the blades in bulk on amazon they work out to 20 cents CAD each.

I've seen some jews take toilet paper from public stalls before. There's saving a bit there.

>>1234592

This right here works too. Gym memberships could range from $30 a month - $100? But I'd say $50 a month on average. You can use the lockers to store your things and use their showers so you don't have to pay utilities
>>
>>1235515
>Wasting money on a gym membership

Just shower in the nearest lake.

>Wasting money on ramen noodles

Uhmmm dumpster diving is a thing, are you aware?

Those $50/month certainly add up. If you save for $50/month for 10 years you'll have $5000(disregarding inflation). That's a very hefty chunk of money, you can treat yourself to a nice dinner at the local McDonalds or perhaps buy yourself a used pair of Levi jeans.
>>
>>1235519
Opps I mean $6000.

Even more!
>>
Two things:

First - Track your expenses in a notebook. Every purchase down to the cent.

Second - Have a monthly budget written down on paper every single month before the month begins. No fancy apps, websites or accounting software.

If you're just starting out, start with tracking expenses for a month. Use those numbers to setup the budget for the following month.

The rest will handle itself.
>>
>>1235519
Well not everyone lives near a body of water, I guess anon could just wait for it to rain.

Some hostels are alright, but they don't have partitioned areas with private computers.

That place is in Tokyo, where the prices are stupid high for anything, but it's still cheaper than any other option.

Take any building, add some cubicle wall partitions, put in some cheap beds, desk and a PC. Sell the food / snacks for like 200% markup.
You could fit like 10x the number of guests vs. in a regular hotel.

Because rent costs more, and OP asked about "minimizing living expenses". It's only natural to consider it as someone trying out how to be maximally frugal.

Essentials in the locker, yeah.

Dunno about the ironing. One could use a laundromat, and then take extreme care to not dirty your work clothes, to make sure you're not wasting money getting that shit cleaned/ironed. Honestly I haven't had a job that even requires a suit or ironing so I can't tell if that's even practical.

As for food, you don't really need to store it. Buy real food (as in actual fruits/vegetables, nothing processed/packaged) as you need it and eat them raw. More than healthy enough, doesn't need tools, isn't messy, is decently affordable.
>>
Love this thread. I've thought about this topic a lot. My recs
>find plots of land being auctioned with no reserves and meant for residency. This will cost anywhere from $100-$3000 in cash depending on acreage and location. Put an RV/tiny home/or just a tent if you're hardcore. Just look into major details like water sources, electricity availability, building codes, annual taxes. Google homesteading. All the consumerist fags are really causing themselves more stress. Just exercise, read, and use your computer (charge with solar if you can save up for solar panels on your roof/plot) or charge at work/cafe/library, garden, cook, buy fresh ingredients. You'll find a QT if you keep improving yourself, they'll spot the ascetic god if they have the right values.

Ayyy lmao...some of my co-workers lose sleep over financial issues, while I sleep peacefully. Also when I go to the bank to take out some cash I pick up other people's receipts out of curiosity. I see people pulling out cash anywhere between $20 to $500 and their balances are $20 left in the bank or a couple hundred...rarely do I see a statement of $1000+ but every once in a while I see a $15,000 - $20,000 statement.

Keep telling me how being a sheeple consumerist is fun while you stress and lose sleep at night wondering where the money is going to come from to pay your next bills HUEHUEHEUEHUE

>Have 9 months living expenses tucked away in a savings account to cover any unexpected expenses
>Set amount of money is automatically invested each month + whatever comes out of paychecks towards a 401k
>Bills are all set amounts and are paid automatically when they're posted
>Decent chunk of change left over each month to do whatever you want with. Buy some stuff you want, go some places you want to go, or invest it if there's nothing in particular that you want to spend it on

It's not that difficult to be responsible with your money while living a "consumerist" lifestyle. I understand most anons are on the spectrum and can only think in black and white, but there's more options than hermit and debt-slave.

Cut down on rent, food, and transport as other anon said. Those represent the biggest chunk of the budget.

>penny saved is a penny earned

>only have a room in shared place, only upgrade if you're living with a partner and can split rent.
>Your rent will NEVER be more than 800/month, preferably around 500.
>use biking, walking, and public transport.
>If you MUST have a car, buy used in cash and maintain it. Go lowcar or carfree.
>cook your own food for 95% of your meals.
>You should NEVER spend more than 40 a week, and that's if you've got high caloric needs, on food.
>if you spend more than 15k a year on needs, you're losing. (discretionary budget like travel can be more, but your basic food, clothing, shelter, transport, medical, etc should be 15k or less.)
>if partner, it doesn't go up that much because you share a lot of costs. Maybe 22-26k combined as base.
>kids don't fucking take up enough room to justify an entire fucking house and a goddamned fucking minivan.
>They weigh 50 lbs and take up as much space as two bags of groceries. Get over yourself.
>kids take almost no extra budget because they live where you do, don't generally need transport (school bus does it for free), don't eat much, and usually get all their other needs as gifts from relatives.
>if you need to buy anything, first try to substitute something you already have or DIY, thenlook for it free, then used/thrifted, then on sale, then online, then in stores.
>maintain your shit. Repair your shit. Learn how to sew.

>>1235419

>tfw plan to retire by 40 and then sell all my shit to travel
>will eventually settle into an inexpensive place and live off savings/interest

Feels comfy, man. I know someone who makes 300k a year and his partner 150-200k, and they're working after a fucking devastating health problem at the age of 70 because they saved NOTHING and live beyond their means. Maybe they wipe their asses with 20s?

I can't believe no one mentioned sleeping in your car. (You have a car, right?) Every homeless young adult I know does that.

You should always live frugally, but you should also always enjoy life to the fullest.

You can provide yourself with a reasonably comfy room and nutritious diet on a relatively low income.

You will probably have some extra money left over if you diligently resist the temptation to spend it on stupid shit. Instead of going partying, invest in yourself by taking up a hobby. This is a personal choice, but I find that learning things like boxing, dancing, or playing guitar are investments that are well worth it. Most clubs are reasonably priced.

All the while, try to increase your income, maybe through a raise or a better job. Now you have more money, but keep being frugal! Call me a faggot, but being frugal over a long period of time tends to make me more "spiritually right", like I tend to wake up earlier and I'm in better shape, shit like that.

All your extra money is for investing. Obviously in all the hobbies and enrichment that you can afford, but now you can also start looking at stocks, or other income-generating assets.

I wish the 18-year old me had thought like this before blowing a 10k inheritance. O well fuck it, now I know.

While I would not do what the OP suggested; I see the point of it. Right now I have a DUI which will be expunged when I get my license back in November. In the meantime, I virtually stopped spending all my money. I live at home with my parents, I don't go out nor date, (despite enjoying both frequently before I got a DUI), I cut my own hair, they don't charge rent, I just help them work on the house and cut grass etc...

Long story short, I decide when I got arrested that this year was gonna be a fly-over year. Can't do anything meaningful when I don't have a license so I got a job within walking distance, work full time, through it all straight into an investment account, (now I have about 10K), and sure I gave up a lot of luxuries when I stopped buying things, but I will be in a very good spot financially when I get my license back and my record is expunged. Hopefully enough so I can pick up and move if my next serious job requires it.

If the OP really did save $600/month for 4 years, then by god his suffering has allowed him to seit on an extra $32,000

Only time I'm social and feel fun is when I'm drinking heavily, but then I'm probably just sloppy and nobody wants to hang out with a drunk.

The point is that these people might be able to go extended periods of time being alone and fine, but someday watching other people be happy all around them will get to them. And that feeling sucks.

You have a certain amount of expenses everymounth. There are many ways you can profit or pretty much get your basic neccesities. Buying in bulk directly from a company is a trick loophole, must find connections. Certain companies like mlm memes can actually save you money when your order things like soap, lotion and shit like that. Get food directly from the source if you can. Barter with a farmer or someguy. They will be more than happy. Try to do your own plumbing and wood stove. Just a few examples.

I'm essentially going to be living there for free while I continue to make money and just pay for YMCA, electric+water, and food if I can figure out the situation. Worst case scenario I'll just have to live off fruit from local farmers market and gas station hot dogs.

You have like three levers you can pull regarding expenses:

Scavenging (anything from dumpster diving for food, to television and tables and sofas, people throw a whole lot of shit out that is still functioning or can be cleaned and be good as new)

Buying in bulk (especially chicken filets can be cheap on sale if frozen for protein, pasta and potatoes for carbs and anything inbetween for the rest)

Minimizing use of water, electricity and heat. Don't flush unless you shit. Don't turn up the heat until you are freezing even while wearing wooly socks + thick indoor comfyshoes + sweater. Turn off lights, turn off appliances when not in use, do not use a dryer for your clothes, don't watch tv, don't own a stationary computer, if possible only use internet and watch movies on phone. Short showers, don't shower everyday.

Does cutting things out of your life make you happier?

> never was good enough

Being a musician is a loosing business for 99% of all people.

Pick it up again anyways, music has value that transcends money. It moves people.

Still, it has worldy values as well: It can get you laid. You can be busking on the street corners for some extra dollarinos. You can make a party orchestra that plays at weddings and stuff like that.

Music is about practice, you get better the more you play, and even when you suck it's still good fun

You can fuck old people for their social security checks. Fairly stable source of income. I am currently fucking 3 ladies for their checks. I also help them with small odd jobs around their condos. I usually go over to their condos around 4 and I'm home by 8. The entire thing started because I was sitting on her bed working on her router and she said something about having a man on her bed. I told her I do anything for cash lol. The next week she called me and had me return on the pretense of working on her wifi. She asked if I was serious I said of course. One year later and I am flush with cash. Swear to god one even made me cookies lol. They always give blowjobs and the pussy is not that bad if you keep your eyes closed. I have thought about this a lot. I have a hefty amount of music stuff myself and have made music all my life. I have thought many times about selling it all and putting all the money in a savings account while I get a real job, but thankfully I've been able to justify my music making by monetizing it. It's a rough business even though It's chump change, but it's nice to play out and record people and meet others who enjoy music as much as me. Like the other anon said, it's all about practice and knowing people as well. Downsizing was probably a good idea if you didn't have a niche to monetize (like if you were solely a singer-songwriter). I'm just lucky I knew the right people at the right time and was consistent.

I also feel you on the not smoking. I quit smoking weed habitually a few years ago and it definitely made me feel like shit all the time. I felt autistic, like I couldn't feel anything or was in sensory overload. It also saved me a bunch of money and allowed me to separate myself from that shitty crowd where life revolves around the consumption of a plant.

Anyway its a great way to supplement your income if you are a reasonably well hung young man. There are so many retirement communities in our area alone. A virtually untapped resource. They are so afraid of predators.. If you are polite and don't steal from them the skies the limit. One of my girls even bought my textbooks last semester - $700 worth (which in itself is bullshit as it was just 4 books). I suggest a flyer stating you are a student who supports himself with odd jobs and errands strategically placed. Then as work pours in you just have to cherry pick the right one - then come to an agreement. I would also suggest not and I repeat NOT flirting to much as you don't want to enter into a relationship but a business arrangement. I always ask when I leave their homes if there is anything else they need me to do. (Kind of like I just finished a job). On Monday I had to sync the garage door opener in her new Cadiallac ( widows have fuck tons of money). Last week she wanted me to work on a ceiling fan in her living room. ( this was awkward as I had just fucked her and it took me like 3 hours and 2 trips to Home Depot) she gave me an extra $50 on my way out. I wouldn't call them GILFs as only one of them has any kind of looks at all. She was probably a knockout in the 70s but that was a long time ago. Anyway this thread is about making money and cutting cost. Hope this idea helps.

Nobody has ever become rich by saving. Instead try making more. Not just your salary but generate other ways of income or whatever.

If you try to save of your shitty pay, you are just kidding yourself, you wont become rich that way and you'll just suffer living on too low expenses

no, you own your dick and arsehole and change naked in front of the old men, kids and closet fags. A penis is a penis, it doesnt have to be sexual, just let it flop around and be free.

If people are uncomfortable with it, they put dicks on too much of a sexual connotation
>>
Exactly! they never look happier than when they are giving me advice for something or another. They are really very very good people. This thread has been very good for me. I feel so much better about what I have been doing this last year. Thanks guys (can't believe I just thanked 4chan lol)

You're assuming it's long enough to even flop.

Some places have both great pay but also super high living expenses. If you minimize your expenses and then leave the place after a few years, you'll have a dickton of money in places with less ridiculous expenses.

Easy-mode:

Buy rice and beans in bulk, think 5-25ld bags.
>>
This seemed as close to a general thread as I could find.

My lease on my studio apartment just switched to no longer covering my water costs. It's effectively raised my monthly necessity expenses by 5%. While kind of bullshit to see such a drastic raise, I signed the lease and knew it was coming.

My problem is that the energy management company doesn't list my usage on their bill. Is it unreasonable for me to expect to see a usage breakdown as if I were getting the bill directly from the water company?

Few of the good advice on this thread
>>
Buy things in bulk

Hunt for food + (fish, livestock)

Grow food (have garden, fruits veggies, wheats etc.)

Grow natural remedies [alternative to otc meds] (teas, herbs, spices)

Make own clothes from hemp or wool from livestock (wool, leather, cotton, etc)

Make your own hygene essentials (soap, deodorant, toothpaste, ) [not hard to make]

Save water (shorter showers, less flushing)

Learn how to repair your own shit, at least the basics (plumbing, mechanics, technical stuff)

Always look for deals, coupons(save coupons for rewards)

Save electricity: Use a fire place, hang clothes on dryer line,

Follow these steps and you will be free forever.

Get a piece of land, put a containerhouse in the ground. Kinda like teletubbies.
It cuts down super much on heating/cooling.
Get light through tubes from outside again cut spending.
Growing you own. Super easy, just stick it in the ground water it from time to time and you get food.
Extend growing seasons by making a cheap greenhouse.
Get chickens put them next to the composting bin so they can eat lots of bugs and worms.
Plant potatoes.

Now you will have almost 0 expenses on food forever.
No more expenses for heating. And lighting your shelter, temp should be constant. , cheapest heating for a stove is make your own briquettes from paper waste people need to get rid of all the time, just pick it from the street.

Hatch eggs, kill chicken.

Buy cheapest clothes and hand wash and air dry them, they will last longer.
Take good care of your shoesbrain, only wear them to go out. Be classic and neatral about clothing.
Collect your own rainwater from your (roof).
>>
Ow yeah, and feed your plants piss, its a real growthboost. You can compost your shit too, very od fertilizer.

Lour birds with food, then shoot em and eat.
Buy the smallest car I f your still working.
>>
>>1234284
>dip your gum in cum so that it lasts longer with additional flavor
My sister actually does this with her boyfriend.
>>
You are a bunch of rookies. The Natives were right all along, fucking learn to receive from mother nature, period.
Buy your piece of land ,do as >>1245946 said, then buy a rain harvest tank, build an indoors Aquaponics system so you can grow funghi and other stuff, buy your motherfucking solar panels, get that electric motorcycle (which you can charge with the sweet juice of the sun btw) and be done with it. Taxes? fuck that shit, you have been preparing years for this, you have read and studied every post on biz? Where is that automated passive income when you need it? There! Auto motherfucking matic taxes payments, DONE, you will never have to pay a single cent on your lifetime. Forget about medical drugs, that's a scam, If you get sick with this lifestyle, then your time has come, the lord commands it. What else? uh?
