Why are rich people so secretive about what they invest in? I asked my uncle what blue chips he was in and he wouldn't tell me. meanwhile he talks about every detail of his rental properties and the various franchises he owns. It's strange.

I've noticed this too. My best guess is because they are greedy asshats who don't want anyone else to make money

he doesn't tell you so you're more inclined to DYOR because it's a bad habit to follow someone else's picks and not learn for yourself.
>>
He doesn't want you coming back in X years saying "I invested in X like you mentioned and lost a bunch of money." with the "why are you so dumb/give such bad advice" implication.

This right here.
I just tell people that my time frames are so different than theirs that any gains based on buying/selling what I'm trading would be luck.
>>

Because they only play around with stocks with money they don't care about. You are a poor loser with nothing to spare, and they feel bad for you potentially losing money you can't afford to play with.

Because there's no benefit to doing so.

>Tells you right thing
>You keep asking him for more advice and waste his time

>Makes a mistake and you lose money
>Now he's responsible and you're going to talk about how dumb he is and how he owes you money

It's the same reason why you don't give people tech advice or fix their computers. Then ANYTHING that happens is your fault
