I have a feeling you're already planning on asking people to make your app for you for some equity, first off that's a bad idea. You're just giving your idea away.

Save up at least $100 & post ads on Craigslist/Backpages/Fiji (whatever that Canadian site is) begging for cheap labour, if no one responds, post an ad on Upwork or at least Fiverr. Then request from the people that respond to your ad telling them what you want, they will give you a price quote so you will know what you really have to save up for.

Usually goes like:

You do the math

Don't expect anyone to do shit for you for free, or for sum equiTiTies

Most good programmers are smart, and unwilling to work for peanuts while some idea guy gets rich.
if you need programmers to start a business, giving equity to a good programmer makes sense, if he's loyal.
it's very easy to underestimate the cost/time investment of creating software, and a lot of people smarter than you have lost a lot of money doing so.

A good developer would be smart enough to not say yes to every such offer as you say above. For starters, he will evaluate whether the software has a chance of making money and he will also consider whether the counter party can be trusted.
