It depends what you mean by adult sons. If they're 18 and getting ready to go off to university then my first priority is to make sure that my offspring have the resources they need to get an education.

If they're like 25 and already working and this $300k and monthly $1.5k is all going to me then that's an entirely situation.

In the latter, I'd just continue to write books until I died. I doubt I'd stay living in Canada, either. Might as well go live as a nomad while spending a couple of months in different places just for kicks. Vietnam comes to mind. South America would be a cool destination as well.

Nothing specific other than that I'd be able to live comfortably and so I'd just read/write and relax.

$300k could get you about $30k per year. Add that to the 18k in pension gives almost $50k per year income before tax.

You're not fucked, but at that point, I'd be looking to move to someplace CHEAP yet warm and resort-ish. Gulfport MS comes to mind, as does places in Mexico like Mazatlan.

You would not want to buy property, it's probably better to rent at that point.

I don't think I'd go to SE asia, it may be too much of a culture shock and could get lonely.

The truth is, the 300.000$ can be changed into 16K a year extra pension.

This situation is for my mother. She has no house but renting one costs 10k a year. If I were here I'd live somewhere else, buy something else. Buy a winefarm in Chili or Italy.


If 300k would make you step outside of your daily routine, what would you finally do that makes you happy. Putting it on the bank so your kids can have it all when you die is not what would make me happy.
