I can have two concentrations. I've already decided on finance. What would be good to pair it with?

RIP then, all of the other ones are a waste of time. Maybe Statistics?

Finance and statistics

Why not information systems? It seems like with knowledge of that field would broaden your job options.

I'm leaning towards finance/information systems which would leave me open to take a minor.

However, actuarial science sounds FAT. Does anyone know anything about it? It seems really hard, but interesting at the same time.

Information Systems and Finance are completely different fields. If you want to be on the more technical side, a double major/minor in CS is better.

Accounting is a very practical choice. It's the language of business and every business needs accountants. It has a ton of carryover to other positions besides just accountants. It helps your job prospects a lot too, it's easy to get your foot in the door in the business world. The downside is it can be kind of boring.

Actuarial Science is a good compliment to finance. They're very similar but actuarial work is more difficult giving actuaries have a bit of prestige in the finance community. Know that if you go the actuary route, there's a series of exams you have to pass which works out well if you're able to pass them because companies pay for your study time and give automatic bonuses/raises as you pass each exam. They're very difficult though and you'd be committing to the insurance industry if you went that route. If you're into finance the high level math you have to take for actuarial work is a good tool to have.

Economics is rewarding but not that practical. An alright compliment to finance but it doesn't really open any doors. Econ does give you insight into the way the world and markets work, which is nice. But not many employers are looking for fresh economics majors.

Global Business -- if you're fluent in another language might be worth considering.

Information Systems sounds good too. Many finance guys are looking into IT because there's so much data involved in finance and it seems to be the way the industry is going, finance is becoming somewhat inseperable from IT systems. I'm looking 5-10 years down the line and think that an IT concentration would be very valuable. We're all pushing Excel to the limits and knowing how to handle data and systems will be useful.

Statistics. Good not great, you'll have to learn a lot of that stuff for finance, econ, or actuarial.

I can't speak on the rest of the options. I split majored in Finance/Econ and minored in accounting. It worked out well.

Thanks for the detailed post. I'm going to go with finance and information systems-- I like the idea of actuarial science, but I think it's too difficult and I don't want to do insurance. Thanks again
