Should I get a Telemarketing job that offers $9.5/hour after tax?
They have a way to earn bonuses as well, which I'm guessing is commission, but they don't talk about it on their site so I'm not factoring that in. (They claim it's a minimum average of $13.45 with those)

It's about an hour of commute away. I can both get part-time and 34h/week.

Anyone have any experiences?
Is it worth it?
Any literature I NEED to read?

Really? No one?

No. Learn some sort of trade even if it's something like cooking. Anything but cold calling and hating life.

It's a temporary job.
I need some money before going to college. I plan on keeping it for around 6 months.
>>
>>1140198
Why dont you get a real job instead of harassing people on the phone?
>>
>>1140257
Well someone has to do it!
>>

Because all the 'real' full-time jobs near me don't exist.
I have no education, and all require 2+ years of experience.

All there is are part-time jobs.

God no OP, telemarketing rates barely higher that big box store retail in terms of actual sales experience, I don't take it seriously and neither do any of the other HR people I've met since there's almost no focus on consumer retention. If you think sales experience would be helpful for whatever it is you plan on doing after college try and work at a car dealership, they're pretty loose on hiring and that experience is much more transferable to the business world than trying to sell gospel CD box sets to the elderly.

I don't want to work in sales directly, I'm aiming for a STEM degree.

It also seems just as boring as any other low-wage no-education job.
Hey, who knows, maybe the ability to slightly increase my wage if I try a bit harder might be fun for a while.
>>
>>1140258
no, no one has to do it

>spend 8 hours a day harassing people who don't want to talk to you and who are going to tell you off and make you feel bad about yourself
>fun

I've worked part-time in retail for 3 years while in school. I know how horrible people can be, and how to not identify with your job.
If people start talking shit I'll just hang up and not let them bust their nuts.

I worked in telemarketing in the past and very little work was done at that place. Most of the time I was chatting with my coworkers and browsing the web while the clients were on hold.

But I was unemployed and they paid minimum wage. I needed money at the time. If you don't absolutely need money, don't do it.

I need the money. I'm just some 18y/old cuck that needs to scrape in dosh for a semester course in what I'm passionate about, and then normal college afterwards.

Go for it. Most places are very easy on requirements and the pressure for results is low. I didn't work in sales, though. I was only receiving complaints and typing in requests.
Then again, you'll be working together with the most low performing people of the working class, you shouldn't be worried.

I don't recommend reading anything since they don't expect you to have any skill (unless otherwise specified in the job prospect). They will provide training.

Just be good at being cool, cold and basically acting like a calling machine. Work on your voice tone.
