Most of us are just into this to cash out when its high, china is very helpful for that goal.

The drop that happens this weekend will be of Biblical proportions. Sell now while you still can. Tons of developers have confirmed Homestead is complete crap and a lot of negative press is going around. Many of the big players are losing confidence, March 14th will open to a lot of negative press and lots of holders will panic sell, it'll probably flat line for good after that. Don't say you weren't warned.

So what exactly is stopping me from creating a virus and killing the fuck out of this network? It seems like there'd be no real way to even remove a sufficiently advanced virus which infects clients and replicates variants of itself.
>>
>>1135420
>what's stopping me

The fact that you can't
>>
>>1135466
Yeah that's not how it works considering they're allowing arbitrary code to run on the blockchain.
>>
>>1135471
If they outdo anonymous hax0rs like you developers like me will most likely defeat the purpose of banks and middlemen (smart contract) if you want to get cucked by the government go ahead and hack this piece of solid tech that makes the world only better
>>
>>1135479
>solid tech
There are so many giant problems with doing what they're doing with blockchains I can't even think of all of them at 2AM. Not the least of which are:
- Information retrieval speed.
- Information availability for larger applications (let's not forget that a bitcoin record is small as fuck, the average website is far larger. Since this is basically P2P cloud storage how do I get the last few kilobytes of my site of panjeet's computer?).
- Information duplication and caching, the former will happen quite a bit and the latter will probably be impossible, slowing the network further as nodes are bogged down with unnecessary bullshit and can't cache information to better serve nearby users.
- Blockchain length growing far too large to handle.
- Assuming the monetization of sites works like "To run the site you pay a bit of ETH to the site's owner" as they seem to be suggesting, scams wherein I basically cause Ethereum clients to repeatedly access my site (either by misposting the link or some kind of data attack)
- All the bullshit that can come from anonymity when it comes to hosting applications for people to run.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love this to work but it's got a few very large problems that they seem to be neatly avoiding in most of their public information, presumably for fear of scaring people because they're not entirely sure how to solve them yet.
>>
>>1135483
You know why? Because its still in the beta you retard homestead isn't even released yet.
>>
>>1135489
Except if they are trying to attract anyone with tech knowledge they should have addressed their solutions to these problems FIRST, not avoided them for the entirety of every single PR piece. I'm sure ETH will be a decent crypto but the platform they're trying to push with it seems fundamentally broken.
>>
File: image.jpg (33KB, 577x221px) Image search: [Google]
image.jpg
33KB, 577x221px
>>1135492
They have addressed them. But you wont get the answers you desire from these kiddies on 4chan. They have no idea how ethereum works.

I believe the storage is handled with IPFS integration as it would be too expensive to handle on the ethereum blockchain.
>>
>>1135496
>IPFS
That still means that if my files somehow end up on Panjeet's computer I'm fucked with a good 1000ms delay for any interaction. Also considering that I'd be "paying" for the storage I'd either have to dupe or all over the place, costing myself money, or accept that some people in various places will just have shit connections to my site. Also a problem, since the storage would then be done on various machines around the globe, if all those machines happen to be off at the same time my content becomes unreachable. It also doesn't solve the blockchain problem, just makes it a bit slower but if this gets the amount of traffic that they want they're going to run out of space pretty fast unless they start purging blocks, which is no good since old content still needs to be available.

Again, I'd love for this to work but I'm always very pessimistic about people who promise the world with vagueries.
>>
>>1135499
>money
ETH. I'm not sure how that transaction works but even if it costs me nothing it's still very inefficient.
>>
>>1135499
I think you know just enough to think you know everything about this.

Take this technical complaint of software you have not used yet to the devs subreddit r/ethereum
>>
>>1135505
Hey man, I'm just saying it seems like this might be a load of bullshit. Also I did. My thread got deleted without any replies after about 10 minutes, which is one of the reasons I'm trying to tell people this here.

hey /biz/ i read the articles about ETH and im quite intrigued by it; potentially looking to invest some of my savings into it.
1. Would you guys honestly recommend it? do you think its the next bitcoin?
2. How do i purchase ETH?? i have no prior purchase of bitcoins, if anyone can give me a simple step by step that would be awesome.
Thanks!

Anything that runs on the network requires ether. You can run malicious code but it'll cost you a lot. Not worth it.
