Hey, /biz/, I've been thinking about two different ideas for a while now for monetizing a hobby, but they go in very different directions.
One is my hobby for competitive terrestrial RC cars and designing parts in autocad (Two years experience) and getting them machined to sell.
The other is selling custom (illegitimate) TCG cards; I've dabbled in four or five different games and researched their production methods.
The latter is very grey area (A.K.A super easy to be sued for copyright by multiple parties), but has virtually zero overhead unless you're dealing with physical copies and won't be an issue if you're only doing it to make a few bucks here and there. The former is legitimate, but will require a lot of saving up, and I don't know the proper networking channels to get in as a merchandiser for RC.
Switch to drone racing, you'll find more opportunities there. Create racing parts, exterior aerodynamic design (or simply looks cool).

I'll have to look into that; I don't know much about drone aftermarket.
