CONCLUSIONS

>Engineering has some so-so fields, but it's still the best considering how much you get with just a Bachelor's. Definitely deserves God Tier
>Medical is overwhelmingly good. You won't make as much with just an Associate's degree anywhere else.

>Math, Physics, and Astronomy are all overrated. Not that many jobs and you need a graduate degree.

>Law is good but way overcrowded. Probably deserves only Mid Tier

>Stats pays well and doesn't have nearly the same educational requirement. Deserves Top Tier.

>Some Mid and Low majors, like Kinesiology and Psych only are so-so within their field (therapists), but can be used to jump to medical applications (psychiatrists and physicians) and thus are semi-God Tier.

>Computer Science deserves Top Tier

>Business belongs in Mid or Low tier. People only look at manager salaries, but the majority of these majors make much less.

>Economics actually is underrated

>Humanities and the Arts are just as shit everyone says they are. If they make decent money at all, most of the fields are actually shrinking in jobs. Professors can turn out alright if they get a PhD and teach postsecondary, but that's literally it for many of the majors.

tldr: engineering or medicine or bust
>>
>>1101745
Medicine has too much survivorship bias and opportunity cost isn't factored in. It's overrated imo.

A McDonald's franchiser is a better paid better, but most business majors work as wageslaves. This is why you see Indians have high salaries, risk = reward.

If you rate medicine high, business should be high as well.
>>
>>1101745

Some other things to mention:

>These stats show the expected growth in job openings, but not the ratio of graduates trying to fill those jobs. Some fields, especially Law and Computer Science, are very crowded and that's not reflected well in Onet.

>The educational requirements for these fields isn't easy to copy and paste. If you start drooling over doctor salaries, remember the costs of medical school. In fact, when you consider the mountain of student loan debt and the opportunity cost of years in school vs. working, nursing arguably has better ROI.

>There are many, many subfields with better/worse salaries and prospects than the ones I listed here.
>>
>>1101754

>Medicine has too much survivorship bias and opportunity cost isn't factored in. It's overrated imo.

Agreed, but only at the graduate school level.

There are many, many medical subfields with Associate's Degree requirements (a year or two of schooling maximum) that pays better than many jobs that require 4-year Bachelor's.

>A McDonald's franchiser is a better paid better, but most business majors work as wageslaves. This is why you see Indians have high salaries, risk = reward.

Hard to quantify, or at least out of my scope here, since Onet doesn't try to capture entrepreneurship.

Online Merchants do pretty well though.

My aunt had brilliant idea of going to medical school in her mid 40s for some reason. She was already well educated at this point and had enough to make a good living. She finishes the schooling, but is unable to finish the residency either due to her age, or more likely her poor temperament. At one time she had 100k in student loan debts, and is now 62. She works as a nutritionist for a farm workers clinic. I guess the lesson is you can be a good academic but that enough does not guarantee success. You need people skills and realistic expectations

This stupid bitch paid $27 a week from her student loans, WITH A FUCKING DEGREE she could have only been spending 10% of her income earning $6.75 an hour and paid that

MFW if she actually paid off the amount she claimed evenly, aka $1422 dollars every year she would actually still owe $20,144 dollars, she probably let her debt sit for 10 years and didnt start to pay it off until it ballooned to 50K

MFW if she stopped going out for lunch or buying shoes or some shit she could have spent $37 a week ($1924 a year) paying off her degree and she would have no debt by now.

Hey guys, I'm 26, have no health insurance, no debt (but an English B.A. paid in full), and literally no job experience or history. I've only worked very briefly under the table with huge 2-3 year gaps.

How fucked am I? What should I do? In assets I have maybe $500 in gold/silver, $3000 in guns (which is hard to liquidate), and a T.V. + PS4 to my name. FYI I'm not a Bernie supporter, I took no money from the government (education paid for from a trust) and am overall ashamed of myself.
>>
>>1101679
Hell yea. Finance and Math student here and I agree and I am also a pajeet, so double rekt
>>
>>1103187
first stop being so pride full and take all the government benefits you can, you can pay back the country later when you actually start paying serious taxes, you can't afford not to be a hypocrite now.

second try to get a job in sales or any other job which requires good communication skills on paper, sell your degree on your resume mention all the projects/work you did in it and how it relates to how good you are with people, communicating with others, writing concise reports etc any leadership skills you can shill are a plus. for the employment gap make up some fake work experience working for your parents business, for enter level jobs no one checks just don't say you worked for a fortune 500 company or a company that any one has heard of or you will get found out

good luck anon and keep applying for work, most importantly DON'T rely on internet job searches as your primary avenue for finding employment, networking is the most effective method for finding employment so leverage all your friends and family and check if anyone they know is working in a field you can claim you have experience in through your degree.
