Do economists have to be extrovert?
>>1089109
yes, success in economics is more about being persuasive and charismatic among your peers than being insightful
>>1089110
Without googling, I want you to name me the last 10 nobel laureates for economics.
If you can't at the very least do that, then I call bullshit on your theory.
It's a plus, but the most important thing to have is verbose writing, while not saying anything that would upset the status quo in the field.
>>1089109
you know he was INTP right?
>>1089109
I would say definitely not.
Economics is about being a smart numbers guy. Understanding economic theory. It's about being book-smart. Therefore I would definitely say the best economists are introverts.
Yes they also need to confident enough to get their point across if they ever want to effect change within an organisation. But that's different from being an extrovert, I think.
To me, an extrovert is someone like an account manager, business development manager, cold caller, lead generator, etc. Someone who goes out and sells shit to strangers, basically.
>>1089109
No.
I'm an economist and I am introvert as fuck. I just put on a parade when I need to.
>>1089138
Trick question, there is no Nobel Prize for economics.
>>1089646
There is, but it normally goes to physicists, econometrists or mathematicians.
Are you being an edgelord anon?
I would say yes. I lurk EconJobRumours, a forum for economists, and they're as edgy as 4chan in many ways. And it's plainly obvious that the institution an economist works at matters ten trillion times more than how good their work is.
Also their job application process (for associate professors) seem designed to filter out all non-normies.
Seems like a fraudulent field desu senpai.

You know those designations are meaningless right?
>>1089109
Paul Krugman and Keynes are INTJ's.

Depends on what you specialize in.
Introverts aren't automatically crippled just because they aren't as good at what extroverts do.
Do extroverts have an advantage in some roles? Definitely.
>>1089686
SO then what's the point of this entire thread?
>>1089686
>people don't have different personalities
>>1089658
Holy shit he actually believes it.
