Hey /biz/
I want to buy an advertising bike and advertise local businesses on boardwalks in my area. What can I expect to charge for advertising?
Will you supply the poster and art work?
In london £200 a day. £250 a day that sort of range.
If you get a long contract say a month charge like £140 a day
Nearer to christmas jack your prices right up.

Basically how i would work it out is charge enough that it would cover employing someone on close to minimum or living wage to ride the bike for you + 70%

Thank you for the input. I have enough capital to buy a few and cover minimum wage for a few employees for at least 2 months. I would like to test the waters and see how the market is before all of that.
I have a hard time employing/managing people that don't work as hard as me.

You'll do fine. I know a guy that runs 50 rickshaws in central london, he's from peru. Do you have customers in mind?

Orange county/Newport?
I'd imagine you could get at least 100$ day

Really that little? Do you know for sure or are you pulling numbers out of your ass?

Thank you.
No specific customers yet, but the area is located in a prime main street spot (bars, surf shops, restaurants, etc.).
If I rode the bike for a day or two with a "Advertise here! Call 555-555" I would have no problem picking up customers.
One concern I have is how has someone not thought of this already? I have yet to see anyone advertising this way.

Yes, between Newport Peninsula and Main st HB.

Are there a lot of shoppers/ tourists in the area?
>>1078240
Plenty of shoppers and huge amounts of tourists.

Well, i don't see why it wouldnt work.
You can even park your bike in high traffic areas, maybe get a little mp3 speaker. Play some music to attract attention.

Nah, totally out of my arse.
I mean, prices are generally pretty high in the area, so you probably would be able to swing much more than that, but I really wouldn't know.
Considering that he is making the signs himself though, I'd say he could make much more than 100 a day

>get a little mp3 speaker
great, so he can be a complete public annoyance on wheels.

potentially - though you'd need to specialise...
for example if you were proposing to advertise a strip club and cycle round the square mile or canary wharf at lunch time, or on a Thursday or Friday afternoon you could probably charge that or more...(the sort of places where the customers are and where they've got no chance of paying for fixed advertising)
if you're young and female even better
in some areas of central London you'll see immigrants standing there holding a sign or wearing an advertising board simply because it is cheaper to pay a human minimum wage to do that than it is to pay for similar size advertising space in those areas

you'd also need to look into insurance if employing people to do that... if one of your mexicans runs down a kid or gets injured/run over himself then you could get all sorts of law suits against yourself from your employees or from members of the public... especially in the land of freedom
