Not business related, but I know a frat guy who was barely 3.0 and got a 24MCAT get accepted to a competitive MD program simply because his dad knew one of the adcoms. Was selected over another friend of mine who had a much more solid resume.

Networking is certainly something to take advantage of. Dont rely on it, though.
