I was told that taxes do not pay for any federal spending, taxing wall street does nothing to pay for students and some other crap about him being advised by three of the top economists.

No. Under the current system students have to study something marketable to pay off their loan which they can do very easily if they are career oriented. This is a just system because if they wanted to follow their dreams and study something for their own amusement or a hobby they ought to do it with their own money instead of treading on someone else's dreams.

Under the new system they will study silly shit like drama or sociology and there won't be any jobs waiting for them afterwards. They won't officially be indebted but they will be indebted indirectly as the extra burden placed on the economy will still affect them via market forces.

Like most things in politics it looks good on paper but in reality is inefficient. I believe the system should revolve around the voter even if they are not experts in all things, I don't know what the solution is but this problem should at least be acknowledged. Populists like Bernie Sanders do not do so, they dismiss us as "free market fanatics" or "teabaggers" and such even though we believe in America, believe in freedom and just want to make the world a better place. I think it is a shame that America is abandoning its values and throwing out the baby with the bathwater just because things aren't 100% perfect. I don't think every country in the world should be socialist like Greece.

But the free tuition shit that Bernie talks about is minor in comparison to all the other crazy shit he's coming up with to waste government money.

I'm all for lowering taxes on the middle and lower classes and raising it for the rich, but for fuck's sake you NEED to lower government spending along with it, not increase it.

Maybe it has something to do with government involvement in securing loans which allows schools to charge 80k for a Ceramics degree that a bank would never approve without these leftist policies? It's removed the market from education entirely. Much the same with healthcare. They can charge whatever they feel like because there's no reason not to.

Ultimately nothing is "free". To the extent that "free education" is going to cost normal people even more money so that precious genderfluid snowflakes can get "educated" in gender studies and art history.

It's gibs me dat in theory and practice. Just another nail in the coffin of American Exceptionalism.

As someone who doesn't live in the US, this is, by far, the most entertaining election I've watched.
Trump and Bernie are as crazy as each other but at opposite ends of the spectrum, if they win their respective nominations for their party, it's going to be jokes watching them go at each other.

Well, until one of them wins.
Then they'd be a lot of economic repurcussions either way.
Should be a good bit of banter, though.

Presume for a moment that the government decided that everyone deserved a cup of coffee in the morning. To this end the government gives every person a $1 voucher for morning coffee each day. What do you expect will happen to the price of coffee?

1. The cheapest coffee on the market will become $1 instantly. There is no reason to sell $0.50 coffee when every person has a $1 voucher to blow. The amount of coffee sold in each transaction may vary (you might get more cups for that dollar at the gas station as opposed to Starbucks, for example) but the minimum transaction will be $1.
2. The price of higher grade coffees will all increase by roughly $1. If the cheapest cup of coffee cost $0.50 before then a person willing to buy a $0.65 cup of coffee is willing to pay a $0.15 premium for better joe, so that say customer is probably still willing to spend $0.15 of his own money to acquire the newly priced $1.15 cup of coffee.
3. After a while people get upset that they have to make do with $1 coffee and demand government buy them a nicer cup of coffee, say $2. The cycle starts over again.

You could just declare that all morning coffee shall be free but the coffee still costs money to produce and distribute. In that case the government has to set a rate for which it will pay people to produce and distribute coffee. In this case coffee will be produced in the minimum legal quantities and distributed with the minimum effort to collect the legally defined rate. Higher grades of coffee may be available from the "private coffee market" but they will be ludicrously expensive as they have to compete with free government coffee if they are allowed to be sold at all.
