Does anyone here have an app with a lot of downloads? I just released something and its barely getting any traction. How did you promote your app?
I already contacted some journalists and even smaller newspapers want $1000 bucks for an article, which is way over my budget for this thing.

Spam it on Social Media. I see a ton of people trying to promote their shitty app/art/clothing line on facebook. Especially on the collage group pages.

If it's the sort of shit that might go viral or attract VC, drop it into a "Show me" thread on HN. Remember, the goal isn't for the app to make money, it's for someone to either pay for you to do more shit or to buy you out in an acquihire.
