So I've noticed a historical price trend with FREE

Typically whatever it opens at, you can set a limit order of .003 less and that'll be the low of the day. Sometimes it goes +.001 or so lower but on average the low seems to be .003 minus the opening price if you wake up early enough to see what it is right of the bat. Gonna try this next week and see what happens.

1. Check opening price
2. Immediately set a limit order to buy shares at .003 minus the opening price.
3. Once bought, immediately set a limit sell for .001 plus the opening cost.
4. ...
5. Profit

FREE's daily numbers seems like it all works off the opening price.

I know you can't short sell in robinhood yet but these seem to be the market threads right now and I'm doing this in the simulator but; when you buy and short sell the same stock I think that's called a married hedge or something. Why is this a dumb idea? Or why not? Is it because you have to pay commission or fees on the short sell or something to keep it open? I'm just trying to get through to the basics of this and need to have these basic dumb questions explained in a simple way.

Pretty much this. Long lasting dividend stocks always make money, because they're bigass companies that pay dividends. My personal fav, Frontier. Cheapass stock (rangebound at about $5 a share,) been paying out $0.40 a year in dividends since 2012 (down from about $0.80/year.) I hold 9780 shares (bought 20/30 at a time every pay period for years now, plus reinvesting dividends.) Next dividend will be $1025 or so into my account, another 205 shares. Looking for other points of view. I bought into solar city (stcy) at an average of 26.60 a share. To date its 56.91. I wasn't expecting it to grow so quickly, I was planning on it having a good first quarter. I think it'll continue to raise due to current news involving green energy. So I'm gonna hold until the first quarter, but I'm curious of how high it will climb.

Huh that was weird too. There were a couple of things I left open. The index cfd which just kept climbing for about 15 mins after the market closed then eventually did close. I presumed that was the settlement time or whatever but then it opened again and it just kept on going up so I closed it off and realised that gain. the broker will charge you a commission which is usually ~1% per trade. so actually you paid $1 to buy shares, $1 to open shorts, $1 to sell shares, and $1 to close shorts. so $210 becomes $206, which is 3% roi. more importantly, when you open the trades you are instantly $4 in the red, so if the trend only moves a little bit, you dont even make moeny. you basically pay a broker to hold a trade open for you and close it at break even/loss.

all these hybrids/weird shit futures are just bullshit. the only thing you need to do is go long and short on equities, with or without leverage. anything else is just bullshit designed to make brokers money and liquidity.

BIZ!!!!! My sort of rich grandfather is getting some inheritance money (750k) next year and he asked me to manage a portion of it for him and as a graduation gift. I took some finance classes back in high school and right now I am just starting accounting in Uni and he trusting me to make sound financial decisions for part of the inheritance so I will try to make a return on the money he let's me invest with.

My one personal rule to avoid draining money is to pick my personal 5 sort of risky but also profitable companies to invest in. For now I am using Robinhood but will switch to Vanguard Admiral S&P500 and TD Ameritrade when the money comes in.
