Coins like Monero, Z Cash, Dash, are these coins that the general public will ever fall behind if crypto ever catches on with normies? Most people dont give a shit about privacy and it seems as if they will only be valuable as long as crypto is still mostly NEETs and drug dealers

Monero has the strongest privacy/anonymity properties, so it's probably gonna take that niche. But the drug dealers will be there as long as people want drugs (i.e., always) so there'll always be a use for it. The devs don't like traders and there's nobody shilling it though, so don't expect a moon mission.

It's a new PoS platform for decentralized applications like Ethereum. They took Stratis' open source code and changed it up in many ways (one of them being that they don't want to do smart contracts because they feel its still an unproven concept aside from ICOs).
Their first app, as OP said, is a secure/encrypted messaging app that they've been working on since 2014. Its about to exit Alpha testing and enter Beta.
So if you want to buy into a new platform, this is the time to do it. Plenty of time to set up a masternode and start gathering new tokens before people discover it and start flooding in. One last thing to keep in mind: the developers plan on announcing a bunch of new features, partnerships, etc. by the end of the year.
