Any psychology-fags here? I need some advice.
Last night, I was pretty fucked up. I was feeling like I was being watched, I felt like even the white noise I had wasn't enough (silence puts me on edge), and I felt like I was about to get murdered or something. Then I started hearing voices. What the hell is wrong with me? This isn't the first time this has happened, at one point while having something similar happen I saw some kind of centipede monster thing chasing me through my house.
Pic unrelated.

so, what drugs you takin kid?
>>
sauce?
>>
>>745374573
None, besides 40 mg of Lisdexamfetamine daily
>>745374593
I don't know, just found it a while back and held on to it.
>>
>>745374665
Although, the days this happens, I'm not medicated.

>>745374389

okay. so you have some attention deficit.

tell me OP< do you find yourself eating a lot?
>>
>>745374792
Only when I'm not medicated. I'm still pretty lean, though.
>>

amphetamine induced psychosis???
>>
>>745374665
amphetamines cause anxiety and trust me that is what is causing it im a amphetamine user and abuser and i have anxiety like fuck from it. talk to a doctor and he will gibe you some good shit.
>>
>>745374389
you have some form of schizophrenia.
>>
>>745375026
Give me medications for a side effect?
>>
>>745374792
what does this mean?
>>
>>745375016
nah not enough to do anything, he would need to take like 300-400mg of his shit and even then he would have to take it for a while to fuck up his sleep, as in he spreads out doses just so he cant sleep for like 5 days
>>
>>745374849
so your anxiety you feel I can say is a side effect of the Lisdexamfetamine that you take. I would first try to see if maybe take it every 2 days would help lower the anxiety and paranoia feelings you get over time. It would also help too in the sense of being able to control something on your own power instead of relying on a drug. I am not saying to quit the drug, but I am suggesting in my personal opinion (I don't give advice) just opinion, I say cut back on that prescription shit, control your urges to binge eat on the days you don't medicate and also try to work on calming your mind in those scenarios.

your condition isn't that bad, you will be fine in the long run as long as you aren't a lazy prick with yourself.
>>
>>745374876
fast food is an option.
>>
>>745375116
yea that is common or your doc will take you off of it and then you will be a spastic with your ADD ass, your doctor will know whats best. id think he may give you a benzo at the end of the day top take the edge off the amphetamine come down.
>>
>>745374389

sounds like intermittent amphetamine psychosis
>>
>>745375029
nah he aint hearing shit, it would be pretty obvious. he is taking amphetamine so he will have anxiety when the drug is wearing off.
>>
>>745375029
That is not necessarily the case.

>>745374389
OP
1. I would not recommend accepting a diagnosis from people on 4 chan. Or from anything other than an in person psychiatric evaluation.

2. If I was to even provide a slightly educated opinion, I would need to know more information. Once again, I cannot diagnose over the internet, but I might be able to help you step in the right direction.

Have you noticed any manic episodes (feeling like you're on top of the world)?

If so, are how long are the periods, and do you experience low moods after?

Is this the first time you have heard actual voices? And were they in your head or do you believe you could audibly hear them?
>>
>>745375375
>intermittent amphetamine psychosis
its not this he i taking a theraputic dose, anxiety is a very common side effect associated with this medication. you niggers need to stop going so radical with your damn diagnostics. fuck just have his doc give him a light benzo or pentobarbitol at the end of the day to take the edge off.
>>
>>745375180
what if he's already schizophrenic and the amphetamines are bringing it out
>>
>>745375485
Same person who posted this here.

Lisdexamfetamine would not cause this being taken in the recommended dosages. The only way this is an effect of that drug would be if the OP was taking large doses and hadn't slept in a couple days.

That is when amphetamine psychosis sets in
>>
>>745375612

it's impossible to determine if his dose is truly therapeutic. nobody knows the actual extent of the attention deficit. even still, amphetamine psychosis can occur on treatment-level dosages given sleep deprivation, diet, or a host of other cognitive contributions
>>
>>745375383
you know there are many different types of paranoia and you don't have to hear voices.

>>745375797

He says he only takes 40mg daily. That is nowhere near the dosage needed to bring out amphetamine psychosis.... his feelings of paranoia and especially HEARING VOICES have nothing to do with his medication.

And unless you know his medical history and are a licensed psychiatrist, you can't say what other medication he might need.

>>745376219
At least six hours of sleep on average, maybe. Probably cutting it close.

ok you should probably try and get some more sleep, and avoid caffeine it may add to the edgyness given off by your medication, sleep is very important. in extreme cases a mixture of sleep deprivation and a medication like yours could end with seizures.

Once again I can't say 100% without you coming to me and getting an in person evaluation. However, if you are experiencing Manic episodes (periods of high energy) and then crashing hard, I would discuss Bipolar 2 disorder and schizoaffective disorder with a psychiatrist.

If you are experiencing manic episodes as you describe it I would lean towards bipolar 2 but once again my guess is limited over a 4chan thread

The "being watched", being listened to, monitored and/or recorded is pretty plausible in today's world, even in your own home.
The "about to get murdered" isn't as likely, but you might do some things that you feel someone might attack you for, so it could be you preparing yourself to possibly get murdered.
Hearing voices can just be you thinking and having nothing external to distract you and absorb your thoughts.

No problem, I would not recommend taking much of what is posted on here to heart. You need to discuss all these symptoms with your psychiatrist who can provide an actual evaluation.

Haha white noise fags... just put on netflix and fall asleep like the rest of us. The white noise is prolly whats making you go crazy you weirdo. You also prolly need some help. Listen to Eckhart Tolle. There is quiet a few really good guru's that can help you concur your life and balance your spirit. Don't get too invested in anything and work on being in the now, the present. If you hallucinate then it's free drugs and enjoy it, don't ever turn to fear. Catch your fear and analyze it so you can make it exist outside of who you are, because it does.

Sometimes in rare cases, amphetamine withdrawal can trigger psychosis, but you generally have to have been taking it a really long time. You should really see a psychiatrist because the amphetamines may be triggering an underlying disorder.

Medication will likely be necessary to treat the symptoms you have described.

I disagreed with bipolar only.

The op described far more psychotic symptoms than descriptions of mania, although if the meds for add are suppressing the strength of the manic behaviour then maybe it is bipolar.

Id rather take the weight of evidence in support of a psychosis diagnosis, than bipolar which is pretty much dictated on the presence of extreme swings in affective mood which op hasn't described as clearly

I'm confused by your question? Are you asking why people can't just be experiencing visual and auditory hallucinations that are not caused by a substance?

I guess they could, however, what makes it a disorder is the part where it is affecting the well being of the individual. OP does not want to experience these things, he cannot control them, and they are a source of distress in his life. That classifies it as a problem/disorder.

Once again, I am a psychiatrist, but as I told OP I can't diagnose on 4 chan with such limited info. I was just saying OP should discuss these with his psychiatrist as possibilities.

I've been close friends with many people who you would call crazy. I've seen them go down the path of medication and become unintelligible zombies and I've seen others work hard mentally and seek guru esque advice and become even better people than they were.

Modern psychology is a snake. They think lobotomizing people through chemistry is the answer. You would be amazed what you can do to your own brain through developing your ways of thinking, developing good habits that keep you balanced, and getting down to the fundamentals of what it means to be a human.

I'm the author of the post you half disagreed with.

First I want to say this is a very educated and well thought out response. I can tell you are either in the field of psychology or have done some research.

I'd like to ask you to consider the staple symptom of schizoaffective disorder. It is that it is always present with intermittent mood swings.

I suggested bipolar 2 due to the fact OP said he experiences manic episodes then crashes. Coupled with the fact that he stated the psychotic symptoms only occur occasionally.

While I can't say certain either way, this gives him a platform to go off of with the limited information I have.

I agree that there is a large issue with psychiatrists over prescribing and casting too wide of a net when it comes to disorders.

Everything you have described are good activities to engage in to promote a healthy lifestyle, and everyone should practice these habits.

However, to state that medicine is not the answer to any disorders is completely incorrect and there is overwhelming neurological evidence to prove so.

>>745382457
If an individual is not experiencing any amount of distress from the incidents, while it would still technically be classified as a disorder due to the nature of the symptoms, it wouldn't necessarily require treatment.

However, OP is saying he doesn't want to experience these things and that they are distressing to him. That's where it is necessary to find treatment.

I understand your anger, there is a large group of us in our field who are frustrated by the amount of psychiatrists who jump immediately to medication and cast too wide of a net when diagnosing.

Not all of us are like that though, and if people are not wanting to experience these symptoms medication is a viable option.

I am very wary of abuse and my favorite books are the transactional analysis books by Eric Berne and Claude Steiner, I am very much of the same mind as those people.
I don't think psychologists are all full of shit.

Diagnosed bipolar 1 here, and incredibly interested in your posts.

Why do you think its potentially bipolar 2 and not 1?

Drug induced psychosis from the Vyvanse. It's pretty common with amphetamines, especially if you binge on the drug and aren't really sleeping well.

Shrooms have actually had some research into their medicinal effects for mental illness. I wouldn't be surprised if they were effective for a small percentage of people.

Research amphetamine psychosis it can cause things like you are describing, talk to a doctor or maybe try to stop the lisdexamfetamine for a a couple days and see what's good

My reason for Bipolar 2 instead of 1 is that OP indicated his feelings of mania are limited to an hour or so before bed. The main difference in the two is the length of the episodes and the patterns of mania and depression.

Bipolar 1 requires extreme episodes of mania that last for extended periods of time. Op indicated he has periods of level moods in between his episodes, and experiences depressive symptoms as well as low experiences of mania(known as hypomania). The severity and described episodes immediately signals to me bipolar 2

Were you sleep deprived?
If not then you might want to go off it (amphety precipitates psychosis) and see a psych.
