There are a lot of problems with non-tissue prostetics though. You can't just put on a titanium facemask and call it a day. You'd still have to cover it with new skin to atleast stop infection from happening. Skin also needs bloodvessels to stay alive, so those need to be supplied too.

Since they removed muscles in his face, he'll have problem talking and eating/swallowing too. They probably try to reconstruct the muscles too, to restore some functionality even if it doesn't look as good aesthetically. At that point it's very much function over form.

Maybe afterwards you could add a titanium facemask, but that option is now still open for him isn't it?
