I also want to state that I am financially secure and I could spend $1k on a phone without it hurting me at all.

Note 8 is an awesome phone. 1k does seem excessive the only reason i am upgrading from my s7e is because spen. I have been a wacom tablet user for almost a decade. The 8plus is this year's actual release. The X/10 is the concept phone which will come either next year or the year after. I say concept because it's what Apple wants to do now but can't due to constraints. If it wasn't the anniversary, the X/10 would not have been announced, it would have been saved for next year. It's basically a "soft" launch. PS if you get the Apple upgrade program, you can get the new X/10 when it's ready.

PS $1,000 is the new pricing point for smartphones. No one cares that you can't afford it because all phone companies know you'll either finance it or get it on contract. I'm in the tech industry so I know this from insider sources. They could charge $2k for a base model and you'd still adapt to it. Also, always buy the phone outright then get an unlimited, payG sim. I pay £28/month for uncapped, unmetered true unlimited data with hotspot and roaming in 60 countries and also if you use things like Netflix in SD it doesn't count toward your data (not that it matters because its TRUE unlimited)
