it was ok

Worth seeing, not a complete disappointment. The clown could have had a better actor and design imo.

Pretty much this. Still great story and actually funny at times but could have casted a better clown and made his outfit no so faggy
>>
>>744883059
I thought it was way better than the original. A lot more was explained and fleshed out.
>>
>>744883059
That clown gave me a real hard on hard to masturbate in the theater tho
>>
A glib facsimile
>>
>>744883466
this. and it wasn't really scary. a little creepy at times.
>>
Not bad, different from the original thats for sure, i liked tim curry better
>>
>>744883329
:/ I kind of liked the new Pennywise. He seemed to have fun with the role and it showed through. He wasnt so over the top like the original where it was almost like a Bozo the clown caricature
>>
>>744883486

People who are scared of things sometimes want to fuck the thing that scared them afterward. It's a coping mechanism for trauma. Lust is used to override the fear.

"Kaa scared me. Now I want to fuck him."
>>
>>744883469
No it's not.
>popcorn bucked
>make room for flesh light
>cover back up with popcorn
>drench in hot butter
>cut hole in button of bucket
>fuck the shit out of that popcorn
>>
It is a good movie imo. It has Its creepy scenes and few of the funny ones as well. as other anons said, the clown could be better, but other than that is is enjoyable.

CGI like a toddler had an internship. That part isnt even projected on. Forgot to crop the video layer. Dumbasses
>>
>>744883660
I mean I have nice nostalgic memories of the original too, but let's face it... It was made for TV. Like, 75% of Henry's lines were "You're dead!" or "I'm gonna bury you!", the cliche was terrible. Tim Curry was the only reason it was good.
>>
>>744884064

The creature initially manifests as a pure projection, THEN it escapes fully.

Their fear of it getting out of the projection is what allows it to get free. It scares them by appearing to get out of the projection, which in turns makes them think it's escaping. Their fear enabled his escape.
>>
>>744884064
because at this point its climbing out of the wall,it isn't being projected anymore
>>
>>744884271
I bet you have some great Game of Thrones theories too
>>
>>744884086

Oddly enough, when it came to the bullies, the remake held back. The more humane ones survived (Victor and Belch balked at the knife), and thus we may see them as adults in the second half.

>>744884365

My point is, it is a fear-based entity. It has only as much power as their fear gives it.

That is why it starts bungling later on the movie, acting more goofy than scary.

That absurd dance was it trying something out there in the hope of scaring Bev. At the same time though, the look on its face clearly shows, "Oh for fuck's sake, get scared already bitch so I can murder you. This is what I get for picking the one kid who isn't afraid of. The shit I do for a meal."
>>
>>744884315

Correct.
>>
>>744883059
Are you a nigger that gets scared by jump scares?

You found your movie, because that's all it is...
>>
>>744884387
I definitely appreciated that bit, or more inversely, I enjoyed what a psychopath they made Henry out to be. It wouldn't make sense to try to have all of them be the same mentally deranged, but it makes his illness more realistic. Even if it takes away from wanting to feel sorry for him like the original series, which had him more being the result of an abusive parent, just like the rest of the kids.

Also, who else was waiting for the gangbang scene in the sewers and wasn't disappointed in it not showing up because it was a retarded scene to begin with?
>>
>>744883643
Oh look we have a Sigmund Freud in the thread.
>>
>>744884617
He should have been dancing in a gory room full of children body parts, instead of some fiery backdrop.
>>
>>744885066

I was disappointed in the movie having the most pyschotic character in the book (Patrick), and not showing what happens when an emotionless monster meets a fear-devouring one.

The clown appears to Patrick as its Pennywise form....but melting like wax and speaking to him in a distorted voice. In a fascinating irony, Pennywise brutally kills the human closest to him in personality (a sadistic child murderer).

It's an irony I wish more people would notice. The clown that loves the taste of fear went out of its way to kill a child murderer without any emotions.

>>
>>744885410

Seriously, Patrick is basically Pennywise if he'd been human. He murdered his baby brother.

Pennywise rewards him by unleashing leeches on him and then feeding on him while he's awake and alive.
>>
>>744883059

they left out all of the sci fi, literally vanilla as fuck, disappointed because of that
>>
Good movie, but I was surprised at how tame it was, not very scary. Do jump-scares even count, lmao? GF was crying at the basement scene, but honestly wondered how folk could be scared at a scene that was in the trailers.
>>
>>744883059
Tim curry was scarier
>>
>>744885839

They do hint at his past though. Patrick sees dead children when IT finally confronts him.
>>
>>744885915

Pennywise clearly sprouts spider appendages at one point, emerges from a fridge the way a spider might, and his costume is similar to the shape of a large spider.
>>
>>744886273

yeah i mean...i wanted to see the ritual, i wanted them to at least elude to the fact that he was a possibly extra-dimensional being somehow. never explaining is worse imo, especially when you show a massive tower of floating bodies and just dont do anything else...
>>
>>744886273

The spider leg attack was literally 2 seconds long, climbing out of the fridge just appeared as a convenient way to hide there for him. Neither of these would mean anything to someone who never read the book.
>>
>>744885915
I think you mean mysticism and magic, not sci-fi. Bev gets a good look when she looks into IT's mouth.
>>
>>744885756

I don't know if Stockholm Syndrome is right for that.

My ex-girlfriend had a rape and humiliation fetish, because at one point in her life she had been raped and humiliated. She liked to reenact that, not because she identified with the guy who did it to her in the first place, but because it did something for her. I think it was almost therapeutic for her, like exposure therapy, or just how war vets can feel better just talking about what happened. Stockholm Syndrome is about identifying with the person who is abusing or terrorizing you and taking up their rationalizations as your own, and I don't think my ex believed she deserved to be raped and humiliated, only that maybe she was working through the guilt of having enjoyed it on some level.

Also, I learned that rape is a lot of hard work, and I was not really into it.
>>
>>744886498

They can't show everything in Part 1. We need to save some stuff for Part 2.

>>744885066

If King wanted an excuse for an orgy all the author had to do was have them do that as adults in the book, and no one would have really blinked an eye.
>>
>>744883059
Worth it to see the main girl in her underwear. Movie was garbage though.
>>
>>744884365
You should read the book. The book is 90% about your own fear. Shit, Pennywise isnt mentioned until page 300+
>>
>>744886882
You afraid of your dad beating/molesting you?

Have a seat and tell /b
>>
>>744885756

My impression is that the brain can confuse fear for domination. Fear, like sexual desire, is a very primitive emotion. Lust cancels out the traumatizing effects of fear, but the catch can be unintended side-effects that typically manifest as fetishes.

I accidentally watched one of the "Alien" films when I was too young to see it, now I fantasize about fucking Xenomorphs (especially the Queen, who I feared the most).
>>
>>744883059
heard it was fantastic
>>
>>744887044

TLDR version: Fear sucks, lust doesn't. The body opts to cancel out one powerful emotion with another.

>>
>>744883059

Good remake, better than the original. First and only time you'll see those words posted.

The mummy, Ghostbusters anyone? Nah, didn't think so.
>>
Not scary at all even with the obnoxious loud sound effects. It was more funny than anything.
>>
>>744885343
I mean... it was. There were plenty of bodies suspended above the box. Not exactly on screen at the same time but they were there
>>
>>744886498
Exposition is the worst thing you can do to a horror movie.
>>
>>744885343

You need to read the book to understand what that 'fiery backdrop' was.

Here's a hint: it's not fire.
>>
>>744889134

They weren't the first group of kids in town. Pennywise just made the mistake of getting fixated on them. The monster has a definite ego in the books, because of how long it has existed.

Being injured by them makes it absolutely furious towards them as adults, yet also secretly fearful of them.
>>
>>744889134
Not shit people. People under It's spell. The book talks a lot about the quality of the number 7 and its power, so a group of 7 children bound together has a striking amount of power against It
>>
>>744891475
Deadlights baby
>>
>>744891749
>>744891636
i should really read the book to understand those fine details.
>>
>>744883059
It is one of the better horror movies. Good atmosphere. I was having a good time watching it, feeling good, but also hard to watch times, because it IS scary.

It plays with you feelings, tense and suspension, which horror movies are all about.
>>
>>744891749

Anything that they believe that can hurt it will hurt it, to a degree. The empty bolt gun still wounded it, because he likely didn't process the knowledge the gun wasn't loaded. He thought it would hurt Pennywise, so it did.

And if they all see it as a clown, it becomes "mode-locked" to an extent. It can cheat on parts of its body, but it's still largely stuck in the clown form.
>>
>>744892046

You should, but the problem is a lot of the stuff in the movie makes no sense unless you read the book.
>>
>>744885161
Sigmund Freud is dead you noob
>>
>>744892141

I love any horror movie where the protagonists actually fight a monster in prolonged melee combat ("Pandorum", "The Frighteners" (the two ally ghosts fighting for their spiritual lives against the evil spirit), etc.). I hate when characters just lay down and die.

I enjoyed it, good character development (and likable characters to boot), good inversive examination of fear, I personally liked the new clown look(the TV series made it way too playful looking at times and too campy), and the pacing was very well done, hardly a dull moment when you aren't engaged with the story in some way. Go see.

IT was like I wasn't watching a rated R movie. That opening scene /spoiler/ where the kid gets his arm bitten off was poorly done. The special effects weren't very seamless, and the gore was meh. Those are the elements that make that horror movie a horror movie.

I forgot the Jewish kid even existed for half of that movie because he was barely written in, the black kid wasn't even in it much either up until 30 minutes before the movie ended, and the fat kid wasn't well written either. Luckily they had the smartass kid who made fun of everyone keep people amused, and interested in the livelihood of the kids.

>ALL OF THAT BEING SAID

It was actually a good movie, I liked it. It stayed true to the TV series, and they did a good job with Stephen King's works.I like that they changed it from the 60's and put it in the mid 80's when Stephen King wrote the book to pay homage. It's still a pseudo-run-of-the-mill, but a bit better than your typical horror movie with its strengths and weaknesses like any other. Horror movies are rarely perfect, if ever, and I think that's an objective statement about things that are subjective.

Would rate 7.5 maybe even 8 out of 10 since they kept it genuine, entertaining, and had some good elements of fear. Not scaring people, but putting fear in them.

>Ain't nothin' like a little fear to make a paper man crumble.

This happened at literally every junction and wouldn't have been scary without the random sound effects that have nothing to do with the actual scene. It's cheap and it's used a lot.

You should, regardless of the movie. It's a great book, and any film - however good - can't fit all of the book in. Then watch the film again and I bet you'll see loads that you missed first time.

That's how he works. He feeds on fear, not just kids. So he has to scare them a bunch until they are ripe for the picking.

A playful campy clown who can appear at any time, and in any form, is pretty scary though.
Especially when you know it's goal is to kill you. So each time it turns up you are on edge thinking "is this it? am I going to die?" but instead it just honks it's nose at you, laughs, and vanishes leaving behind some balloons.
>>
>>744894557
It's set in the late 80s (89 I believe) because that sets the next film in the present day for us.
>>
>>744884365
That's actually what happens in the scene.
>>
>>744884064
I actually loved that scene. Having him come out of the projection and be fucking huge was a total oh shit moment. Especially when he is that big inside a small enclosed space.

Yeah. I'll check it out I guess. Soon as I see the predictable Hollywood, sell it to the millennials bullshit, I'll cringe. Let me guess, it covers all the pc "qualifications". Blacks, gays, women not victimized too much. Good writing. Unpredictable good fear. Ok. Not the same old shit. First one was laughable.
