Here's the real question.
>>
>>744818041
All that AR's need to be completely superior is to be chambered in a better cartridge, such as 6.5 Grendel. AK's are beyond any hope of being improved measurably. Therefore, AR's win. The end.

ARs are the firearm equivalent of modded vaping pens (aka Mouth Fedoras), where boys stick all kinds of shit to them in hopes of impressing other boys.

Therefore, AKs are like Marb Reds - they just get the job done.

For civillians? 9mm because you can have like 18 rounds and un trained hyped up civvies tend to miss A LOT of shots in self defence situations.

For the military? The 1911 is a good gun but obsolete now. Something more like the FN57.

It's like comparing an 1851 Colt Navy to a Schofield.
>>
AR for accuracy and versatility
AK for stopping power and reliability
>>

what about NATO grade Five Sevens?
>>
>>744822535

>>
>>744822288

Bullpups are the classic"good in theory, bad in practice" idea.

Both the french and the New Zealand militaries are in the process of switching for bullpups back to a traditional assault rifle layout weapon.

>>
I shoot the AR because it is more accurate past 30yds than an AK. When I go shoot for fun I tend to shoot at longer distances, AR is better hands down.

In the very unlikely SHTF scenario, I want what I practice with, which is an AR.
>>
>>744822844
still one of the best hand guns of all time
>>
>>744823321

Bad triggers due to long trigger linkages, slower to reload, more difficult to reload, more difficult to clear certain types of malfunctions, not usually lefty-friendly due to where the spent cases eject. They certainly have their applications, but most militaries are realizing they do not fully replace traditional rifles for the above reasons and are only useful in special circumstances where short overall length is more important than all of the above.
>>
>>744823321

I've used an Austeyr F88 quite a bit which is the Australian licence production of the Steyr AUG. I think it's great in every aspect except it gets dirty pretty easily and the trigger is heavy.
>>
>>744823864

If I had to use a bullpup the AUG would be top of my list. That trigger is definitely mushy however, due to that stupid light press for semi, full press for full auto nonsense.
>>
>>744824082
That is a true two stage trigger though.

>>744824082

Yeah the 2 stage trigger shit is good in theory, if a haji jumps out infront of you, you can just spray him down or whatever. Or just switch to full auto immediately whenever you need to.

But that just doesn't happen and over complicates the trigger group more than it is, being a bullpup.

My one gripe with it in general though is I prefer a hand guard or barrel shroud to hold instead of a fore-grip, and flipping it up to hold it like a traditional rifle just doesnt do it for me. Though it's nice when the barrel starts to really heat up.

Love-hate relationship.
>>
>>744818041
AK
can be made with specific metalwork tools
can be easily modified to be fully automatic

AR
chambered in common round
highly modular
reliable

These are just the advantages off the top of my head. If i had to pick one I would get an AR.
>>
>>744818097

AR is: Cheaper, more accurate, just as reliable/rugged really, lighter, more flexible, more modular, etc

Aks are: Cool

The only American made bullpups I'm aware of are the best bullpups with good triggers

MDR, RDM, RFB...

I have poked holes in skinnies and they got up useing 5.56. I have poked holes in skinnies with a 7.62x39 and they did not get up. I prefer targets to stay down.
>>
>>744818041
Unless your AK is the export model chambered for 5.56 NATO (which will also fire .223 Remington), I'd stick with the AR.
>>
>>744818041
Quality vs quantity. The AR is a superior rifle, the AK is dirt cheap. Unless you carry regularly, go for the AK, it'll work just fine for home defense and plinking.

AR is the better option.
>5.56 ammo is mass produced for military so no need to worry about ammo in a bad scenario

>very simple to fix if there's a malfunction
>larger magazines
>more accurate
Not saying the ak is bad by any means but in the world we currently live in, the ar is a much better option.

The ak is the better option, it is a simpler design thus more reliable with zero maintenance. The .223/5.56 is good for woodchuck hunting. I'll take my Romanian sar 1 over my ar any day for shtf scenarios

I prefer AK - easier to clean and maintain, and has much looser tolerances so works when it isn't pristine.

The only real perk is detachable mags and you can get an SKS-D from the factory to take detachable magazines

An SKS is a heavier, sturdier platform and arguably a prettier gun

I don't know shit about the AK mod so I don't know how easy we're talking, but with a little preplanning and having completely legal parts on standby, you can have AR back to proper select fire in not much time at all
