I'm back out in Arizona now, but I lived in the Tampa/St. Pete/Palm Harbor area for about 5 years and lots of my friends from that area have been posting warnings and suggestions over the past couple days about the hurricane that's likely about to hit the area. It sounds like stores are already running out of bottled water and gas stations are already running out of gas. A couple friends also posted that they had tried to get a flight out of the area, but that every flight was already booked.

To those of you in the area and are knowledgeable about storms like this, what are you anticipating? Do you guys think it's going to hit Florida, or any other area, with serious force and end up being devastating? Or will it likely avoid causing major damage? Also, what's the weather like there now? Any winds or rain yet?
