Why
>>
The crypto markets have been weird since the China thing. I would highly recommend waiting because everything might crash soon.
>>
>>744319942
Think more than the 10% correction we have already seem?
>>
i miss out on bitcoin every year. if you have extra cash do ahead and do it. im a gambler i would if i had that cash
>>
No....you want to buy low and sell high. It's way too high right now.
>>
>>744320585
It was considered high when it was 2k last month
>>
I'd recommend buying precious metals like silver and gold right now. When the 'correction' hits, then prices will skyrocket.
>>
Think it'll go to 50k in a year?
>>
>>744321285
APMEX.com up to the minute silver and gold prices. Silver is cheap, but was cheaper in June. (about 15$ per oz)
>>
>>744322318
Precious metals lol
>>
I funny I just read an article about an economist who projected the fall of bitcoins. He projected the housing market fail years before it happened. Go ahead.
>>
>>744320585
For all you (or anyone) knows, 1 BTC could be 100k USD tomorrow.
>>
>>744322650
Link?
>>
>>744322753
True. But is that more likely to happen than 1btc = $10 USD?
>>
>>744322629
I didn't call the m precious metals, any metal that cost the same as 2 value meals aint precious
>>
invest in iota, its the next generation coin for m2m, nano/micotransactions and so on. look at reddit for more information
>>
>>744322945
Then you're an idiot because that's what they are.
>>
>>744322804
He means Peter Schiff. He is completely anti-Bitcoin because he believes it is just another fiat. No matter how much we try to tell him though he won't get it. It isn't fiat.

Here's McAfee talking explaining it...

Why iota?
>>
>>744317697
Depends if you need that $25000 in the next 6 months to a year. If it is dispensible, go for it. If you're looking for a quick buck, wait for it to start climbing again(above 5000).

I once won 5.5 Bitcoin on a gambling website (it was worth about $8600), and then lost it continuing to gamble. Now it'd of been worth 25 grand. I am filled with regret.
>>
>>744323702
Also, I should mention, I won it by starting out with only $20.
>>
>>744323386
Won't need it for 2 yrs approx
>>
>>744323702
Buy some now
>>
>>744320441
I could go upwards of 100k but that's a LOT of risk.
>>
>>744323254
cause IOTA uniquely offers zero-fee transactions & no fixed limit on how many transactions can be confirmed per second. Scaling limitations have been removed, since throughput grows in conjunction with activity; the more activity, the more transactions can be processed & the faster the network. Further, unlike blockchain architecture, IOTA has no separation between users and validators (miners / stakers); rather, validation is an intrinsic property of using the ledger, thus avoiding centralization.

IOTA is focused on being useful for the emerging machine-to-machine (m2m) economy of the Internet-of-Things (IoT), data integrity, micro-/nano- payments, and other applications where a scalable decentralized system is warranted.
>>
>>744323702
Thats nothing. I sold 8200 bitcoin before it peaked at 1500 the first time in 2014ish. I'd have 35 million dollars right now.
>>
>>744325784
Ouch
>>
>>744317697

lol do it
>>
>>744325784
that must hurt more than my herpes
>>
>>744326555
Why
>>
do it, there are projections that bitcoin is to reach a trillion market cap in a decade or so
maybe don't sink all 25000 into it, but 10000 at least should return a tidy profit
>>
>>744317697
don't invest more than you can lose, and be prepared to hold it for 1,2,5 years (or if you're a true believer, indefinitely)
>>
>>744327488
Can hold forever
>>
>>744328228
Then buy 25k now and when you retire buy a yacht with a fraction of it.
>>
>>744322945
ill take my financial advice from a guys how measures value by McDonlad's meals LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLoL
>>
>>744323754
so you turned 20$ into 0$ ... cool story gamblefag
>>
>>744317697
ask /biz/
>>
what do you fags even do with this useless "currency" anyways? You can't buy 99% of things with it anyways...
>>
>>744329705
It's a currency, yes. But I'm not buying to use it to make purchases. I'm buying to make money.
>>
>>744317697

Yes do it!

>The key to investing is Buy High, sell Low!

Oh wait... that's not right is it?
>>
>>744329705
for me, steam, overstock, newegg directly accept it and you can get giftcards with gyft
>>
>>744330175
Ebay gift card that shit and buy gold
>>
>>744330285
if I had done that literally any day up until now, I'd have something of less value.

Why do I want ebay bucks or shitty us government dollars when I can have global, permanent, rare money.

you know the government just prints more of their shit literally 24/7 right? literally the dollar in your hand loses a small fraction of its value WHILE YOU'RE HOLDING IT
>>
>>744330285
and gold isn't much better, try sending gold through the internet and tell me how that works out for you
>>
If the usa goes into a trade war with china, i wonder how the bitcoin could be impacted..

Each note printed is associated with a debt to the "Federal" Reserve effectively enslaving the government, and it's people. Imagine if there were zero dollars in existence, the government would ask the Reserve to print $10,000,000. The Reserve would gladly do so, for a small fee on top of what was borrowed, bringing the government's bill to $11,000,000 (made up interest). But wait, there is currently only $10,000,000 dollars in existence, how can we ever pay back the Reserve? (short answer: we can't)
>>
>>744332128
And that's how the world goes round
>>
>>744317697
Idk op
I keep waiting for it to crash so i can buy more,
but it just keeps going up.
>>
>>744332306
just know that with the exception of the last few days, if you had bought at ANY price you'd be in the black.

And this current slump won't last.
>>
>>744332278
yupp
>>
>>744332391
I bought a few at 750.
>hit 1k
thought I would buy on the dip
but there's never been a good enough dip for me
thinking about buying more now
>>
>>744332656
either have a premonition and buy big at the right time, or buy constantly and average out the fluctuations

I'm doing the second, my average price bought is probably around 1.5k
>>
>>744317697
After listening to a couple of sources. It is said Bitcoin could reach 1 million dollars a coin in the future.

If you truely have 25k that you could use, and it would not kill you to lose it, buy!!!!

There us just too great of a chance of Bitcoin becoming insanely valuable in the future.

there's a small set of users that believe that no matter what, bitcoin is their money of choice. I'm glad to say that I will never trade bitcoin for anything other than goods and services, and likely not without replenishing my bitcoin as possible--even if it's $1,000,000 per coin.
>>
>>744333145
no matter what, so long as the network is secure, bitcoin will have value. $500 means I buy as many fucking coins as I can lol.
>>
>>744333300

OP most of these faggots will say no, buy it and don't think about it for 6 months. It has grown every year and will continue to as more 3rd world countries get mobile phones and use cryptos instead of their shitty African currency (inflation).

Buy it, doesn't listen to these faggots who missed out who want to keep you out.
>>
>>744333745
not OP but I'm buying as much as I can, lol thanks though
>>
>>744322866
why would the dollar suddenly raise so much in price, thats not even healthy
>>
>>744325784
bitcoin was never above 900 for the entire year or '14 and the early peek in '13 was 1k

also you still got millions out of that, so what exactly makes you unhappy?
>>
>>744317697
yes. just dive in. The price has shown itself on continuous growth so my thinking is just jump in when you can. As the old Chinese proverb goes, the two best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago and today
>>
>>744331906
cool man you almost got 1 trading fee worth of bitcoin
>>
>>744317697
If you do, will you give me one?
Or like... half of one?
>>
>>744333300
mtgox lost people's bitcoins
>>
>>744335253
while that's true, and that is a stain on bitcoin as a whole's history, that wasn't because of the network, it was because mtgox had shitty code, shitty security and was a shitty company.

If you don't control the private key, you don't own the bitcoin, and that's also true with what happened with mtgox.

It can happen again. Don't keep bitcoin on exchanges. Period.
>>
Can someone explain Bitcoin mining and is it profitable with a single PC?
>>
>>744335904
not anymore.
>>
>>744335904
miners solve hard math problems for money.

it's not profitable without thousands (or millions) of dollars of investment plus access to cheap electricity
>>
>>744336198
I have free electricity (covered in my rent). But only a single pc, im assuming its useless now with how massive the mining has gotten?
>>
Look guys, I'm broke as fuck. Can I buy fractions of bitcoin and hope those fractions of bitcoin appreciate?
>>
>>744336583
yes, absolutely without a doubt. You might be able to mine certain altcoins, but you need to be on top of that shit constantly.

for me, it's not worth the headache or even the slightly warmer room.
>>
>>744336668
What are altcoins?
>>
>>744336600
yep
>>
>>744336781
basically copy+paste bitcoin with stuff changed.

for example, bitcoin has a certain math problem it does for mining. some altcoins have changed the math problem so bitcoin miners can't mine their altcoin, and vice-versa altcoin miners can't mine bitcoin.

some altcoins also have other properties, like Namecoin can be used for trustless DNS (tbh, probably the future too, but it doesn't get much recongition).

Other altcoins: ethereum, litecoin, peercoin, dogecoin.

All have some or many things changed about them from bitcoin but they all started from bitcoin, which is why they're called "altcoins"
>>
Someone want to double check my math for the gold package here?
It's either 24$ a day in maintenance fees or it's $4838 a day for fees....
Also, what do you guys think of using this kind of service?

genesis-mining.c0m/pricing

pls no ban I swear to kek im not a company shill, just an idiot who wants bitcoins and doesnt know shit about how to get them
>>
>>744338048
close the tab, shut off the computer, go outside and think about what you did.

bitcoin is money, you get it exactly how you get money.

forget mining exists, you will get scammed or lose money.
>>
bitcoin has issurs right now, ridic miner fees, blockchain getting slower and slower, issues with double confirms.

I feel like it will hit its limit soon, then again I thoufht that at 2k
