Fandoms as a whole are complete shit. The problem with fandoms is that they want more out of it when the content itself is already good enough. I'm a fan of things too, but when fandoms come in and start having artist come in and put there character in a whole perspective that's from the fans it's fucking cancer. Like I love playing Overwatch it's one of my favorite games to play. But when the cancer of the fandom comes into ruin the game it's terrible. Shitty artwork of some of the characters being in highschool and shit, that god awful tumor Soldier:76 dad shit, that fucking Gengi and Mercy ship, it's all complete cancer. It ruins Overwatch for me and it makes not wanna play the Game at all or even talk about it. And you know what's the sad part? That's literally all fandoms. A shitty group of fans who can't just keep there shit straight. Seriously if your in a fandom just kill yourself now.

Yeah a ton of people throughout the course of my life have been trying to get me to watch Rick and Morty (I think that's what you mean by R&M). I saw an episode of it recently, and it fully confirmed why I didn't ever watch it. I'll probably give it a chance one day but I doubt I will like it/keep watching. It feels like a bandwagon cult effect - everyone saying oh man it is awesome and everyone else being like oh man oh yeah it is awesome, but neither really willing to face the deep down feeling that they are frauds.

You're exactly right, the bandwagon is powered by a sense of intellectual superiority and inner-circle thinking. There are a few really great R&M episodes, and the entire series as a whole is worth watching in general. And it can be very smart and insightful between burps. But I think you're right and deep down all R&M fans realize that most episodes are just OK, solid but just OK.

I mean Futurama had it's really brilliant moments too but that shit got cancelled and is considered by the average TV viewer to be "that shittier future Simpsons thing that got cancelled". And it wasn't because they "didn't get it". They just didn't hold on long enough to experience the gems that really make the show a little more special than a typical animated series.
