No Country For Old Men

That movie made me like the Cohen brothers again. That and Big Lebowski are their only movies I like, but I like them enough to give the directors a pass.
Kill Bill (both Volumes)
I think it is a good send off for 20th century cinema as it is basically an homage to mid-late 20th century cinema, with direct influences from both eastern and western films. (Westerns, Hong Kong Kung Fu, Japanese samurai.)

The Truman Show. Terrifyingly prescient, great acting, and surprisingly deep characters when you rewatch it.
Repomen. Great philosophy, realistic, great sound track, cliche but did it best.

I used to in high school. Being 28 now, it's still my favorite movie.
2001 is an amazing movie based on an amazing book. I read the book in 6 hours I was so entranced by it.
Arthur Clarke and Kubrick were geniuses and the later making a movie out of it just made it a real masterpiece.
Alien contact, Solar exploration, human evolution, AI computers are pretty interesting subjects, even for the sober mind.
>>744176868
If you haven't already you should read Childhood's End. I love reading sci-fi, and even though it is short it is still one of my favorite books of all time. There is also a Sci-Fi 3 part mini series of it. It's not too bad either, but the book is mind blowing.

He was gonna make a huge production-heavy Napoleon film before he died. I wish someone talented would take a page from Kubrick's book and make that a reality.
Someone needs to direct a 2-parter based on this book.

Good movie except I didn't really get the whole "they were gay" thing. It makes it seem like their primary reason for attacking was sexual frustration, when in reality most mass shootings are for various other reasons. Excluding the supreme gentleman of course.

That's probably because he has schizophrenic tendencies himself. That's not a criticism, and it's the basis for a lot of his comedy and being able to step fully into characters (look at his original comedy, so much of it was character-based).
Then there was the stretch where over and over he played characters awakening to a new truth about life: Truman, The Grinch, The Majestic.
When actors play the same role over and over it's usually because that role is a reflection of and expression of something happening inside them, and playing the role is their unconscious way of working through it.
>>744183301
No problem. If you liked Midnight Cowboy you'll like Crash (1996)
