The wax thats hardens like that is called "Hard Wax" you use it without cotton strips.
The other type with the strips is called soft wax.
Hard wax specifically hard wax sold for pubis/Brazilian is ideal for pubis and balls.
Hard wax and a heater pot is quite cheap too but it's near impossible to do your own backside though.
