What's highball?

All whiskeys start out as pure grain alcohol and taste the same. The difference comes from how much the first water cut is, usually to 175 proof or less, the barrels used, and the length of time its aged in those barrels. Some distillers do a second distillation to concentrate flavor, some do a second cut and re-barrel in wine/port casks, etc. Small production is better than large. Lots of variation in small production scotch's. Drink neat with a water back in the US.

For my day-to-day I'll usually get whatever's on offer at the supermarket. At the moment it's Chivas Regal which I quite like, so it's being drunk quicker than I really should.

If I ever see Isle of Jura: Origin on offer, I will buy that shit in bulk.

Most expensive I've ever bought was Yochi cos I wanted to try Japanese and it's not cheap, but this one was recommended by a guy I trust.
