I went to war with wasps twice.

back spasms a few months ago

Woke up with every muscle in my back tied in knots, couldn't move without screaming in pain. Called ambulance, they gave me gas and air, put me on a spinal board, took me to hospital. Doctors gave me diazepam, naproxen, codeine and oral morphine. It still hurt after that but I was too far gone to even give a shit.

My Foxhound was hit by an IED in Afghan 6 years ago, my Rupert and two mates were killed outright, I lost both legs at the knee, my left hand and my left eye with other damage to my spine.
I died twice in the Chinook, once at Bastion and twice more back in Birmingham, all in the space of two weeks.
I hardly remember anything around that time for about 4 months or so, my family were told multiple times to come over because I wouldn't last the night/day, my heart however, wouldn't quit.
After repeated amputations to fight infection at my stumps and to improve circulation, the fusing of 5 vertebrae in my spine, the release of fluid from my skull to prevent brain damage and surgeries to reroute my intestines I finally was sent home to recover.
This is when my pain was at its worst, when I had been hit, Arsenal were top of the league and by the time I got home and found out the end of season league standings we had dropped to fourth, for fucks sake!

Second degree sunburn from spending all day in the sun after putting on some acne cream when I was a teenager. I got the biggest blisters I've ever seen, the size of a lemon. Was then sent home on hydromorpine, now I hallucinate from time to time, even after being off opiods for aboit 2 months...

I got stung in the toe knuckle by a stingray.
Hurt more than ear infections, and I used to get insane ones.

i've performed surgery on myself without anesthetic.

all of the above were quite painful, but the worse and most painful experience for me is hemiplegic migraines with aura.. it's a congenital thing passed on from parents. i hear it's not quite as bad a cluster headaches / migraines.. but it's up there.

you get the worse damn migraine .. which is precipitated by weird visual phenomena / blindness.. then you have symptoms similar to a stroke.. numbness, weakness on one side of your body.. and of course within an hour of the initial symptoms, your head feels like it's gonna explode.. they can last 2-3 days sometimes.. during a bad migraine i am totally incapacitated, i have to lay in bed in a dark room and avoid any loud noises..

severe migraines suck and they will make you seriously consider killing yourself just so the pain will stop.

Kidney stone. I was in so much pain, I had trouble driving. I wrecked and the car tumbled. When I woke up, battered, I crawled from my upside down car, gas was dripping on me. We had a windowless bathroom, I would crawl in there, puke my guts out, dry heave for about an hour while I wait for the horse traqs to knock me out. For a while, I needed to put gloves on to prevent me from clawing my own eyes out.
I've been scalded all across my chest and stomach, I've had 2nd degree burns on my forearms. I've had one of my fingers pulled completely off. None of that felt anything close to the pain of a cluster headache.

Worst part about these epic migranes/clusters is that they affect my judgement for days after. I can "feel" the ghost of it along the edge of my brain. And I've seen my work after I tried to 'power through it'. That's how I can tell it fucks my judgement up for as long as 2 days after.
The aura - yeah. Like sheet lightning across the edge of your vision. Each one stabbing an ice pick at the back of your eyes. Only pressure directly on the eyeballs gives any relief at all. Puking wasn't so bad until it was dry heaves. Trying to get a few breaths in before the next round of dry heaves would get tough sometimes. My abs would be so fucking sore the next day. My cluster headaches left me with such a high tolerance for pain that the guys at the shop say I'm an android. You know, gets torn apart and can still operate.
