>>743447785 Okay but if I get into trouble I'm literally going to place a curse on you and you probably think I'm joking or it won't work because I don't know who you are but you'd be wrong about both. The gods know everything.
>>743447773 Listen weeb, normally id tell you to fuck off to /bant or something but /b has turned into a total shithole, literally everything is cuck probaganda or porn at this point.
You're not gonna get banned for posting anime but then again mods are tight on here, hasn't been a good raid thread in quite a while cause they get fucked (not that newfags here want to do anything other than raid some feminist... how fucking original)
>>743448361 You know what, now I'm going to discuss the anime I want there and I'm going to make them listen and they're going to like it. That sounds just like the pathetic Raildex fanbase I used to post with all the time.
>>743451269 Did I ask you to? I said earlier how happy that made me that I actually do stuff with my life. I'm not one of these retards who uses it in a fucking waifu thread all day. Sounds fun sure, but I'm happy I'm not wasting my life.
>>743451679 I'm not angry anon. I'll literally talk about anything and I naturally say things that make people respond. That's why you're still talking to me. You also kind of proved my point about mobile being superior which is all I really care about in this discussion.
>>743451772 Okay? I guess you must have been talking with another anon, because I remember our discussion being about the waifu threads, and then you telling me to use mobile, and I said I didn't have the time to do that during the day so. I'm glad? It's like you was trying to win a war that wasn't even happening. I thought we were legit talking until that salt came up.
>>743451880 As I said it's not salt. I made the thread because I wanted to discuss anime but you mentioned mobile so I just naturally started talking about that because I'm passionate about using a mobile on 4chan these days over wasting your life chained to a room with a computer.
>>743448294 Every now and again which ducks since Id Luke to actually talk about Anima in those threads since the main purpose of them is to talk about your waifu and that obviously goes hand in hand but everyone just wants to talk about work so I just go with the flow
I don't care what anybody says not that much people would argue with me when I say that Madoka is one of the best series ever created and belongs in a discussion with the best of the best and it's not even an argument that episode ten of Madoka magical is the all around best anime episode in anime history.
>>743453058 You must not realize how popular Madoka still is years after the fact. Go to any event and Madoka is everywhere and it easily has the second most threads on /a/ despite how new it is in comparison with older popular series like Bebop and it reached that level of popularity in twelve episodes.
>>743453229 Yeah like I said, I think it did some pretty cool things what with making a dark story revolve around high school girls in frilly dresses and having cool action scenes but I just personally don't consider it to be good enough for me to go and rewatch it
>>743453370 If you think it was a show about high school girls in cute dresses doing scary things the entire show flew over your head. It's a Faust derivative and the things that happen in Madoka Magica actuality have deep meaning with lore everywhere unlike Evangion where everything was strictly created for style.
>>743453570 I'm not talking about the deeper themes I'm talking about how the show presents itself because other than the opening scene where we see shit hitting the fan were initially met with girls in high school and the 'forbidden love' meme, but by like episode 3 we see Mami get decapitated and that's what I'm on about. It got my friends and I to stop associating the story with the style and we're able to enjoy more anime because of it.
>>743454199 >Rewatching mystery shows can be just as enjoyable as the first if it's done right because it allows you to pick up on initial details you might have missed This shit right here. I will never pass up on an opportunity to introduce someone to The Usual Suspects.
>>743454594 I didn't mean Madoka. The vast majority of the anime I watch is shounen, because I like action shit, and I feel like it's EVER SO SLIGHTLY easier to avoid blatant, rampant fanservice. I'm open to suggestions, but I mean... I'm even not really going to watch Kill La Kill even through all the "BUT IT'S SO GOOD!" because fuck me. If I wanna watch something that shows a lot of skin specifically for the viewer's enjoyment, I'm just gonna watch porn.
>>743454788 You should watch the disappearance of Haruhi movie before you watch the series like I did. It's so much more fun that way and I'd bet money if you did you wouldn't be able to resist watching the series. I've seen all the best most critically acclaimed anime movies from EOE all the way down to Akira and I have no doubt in my heart that The Dissapearance of Haruhi Suzumiya is arguably the all around best anime movie ever created.
>>743454788 Anon if you're only watching shounen anime I feel bad for you like god would feel bad for the sinners of earth. Please if you're not going to watch The disappearance of Haruhi at least watch Tsurezure Children. It's a little series with very short episodes and requires very little dedication and I'm sure that will change your stance on only watching action anime and by episode two you will definitely be hooked.
>>743455939 I feel like you completely stopped reading after "shounen", because I explained the reason why, and none of your posts have said anything about that other than "But you shouldn't only watch action, that's WRONG!"
>>743456195 No! Do it the way I did and watch the movie first. I don't know if you're like me and you enjoy being lost and very intrigued but if you are that's definitely the way to go. I couldn't imagine watching it the proper way and I'm not joking. I'm very happy I watched it the way I did because it made the series so much better for me.
>>743456179 I'm up for suggestions, but if you JUST suggest things that to you are good without really listening to the other person's likes and dislikes, then there's less of a chance that they'd like it. And your posts don't seem to indicate your consideration of what I've told you, which is what I'm saying.
>>743456478 Hey, I'm more than welcome to suggestions, just seems like a LOT of fucking anime goes out of its way to be about fanservice, and I'm not about that. So that basically removes all of the harem genre, and I just kind of don't like romance being the only plot on TOP of the fanservice. It's really just obnoxious to me, and makes me not like things.
>>743456556 If you can suggest anime that isn't majority romance based or blatantly goes out of its way for fanservice, I'm all ears. Shounen is just so far the easiest genre to find things that aren't that.
>>743456646 Tell you what anon. The episodes of Tsuzure Children are so short that I bet it will change your mind about romance driving a story within two episodes. Watch two and come back here and give me your thoughts. I'll listen and if this thread is gone make a thread about that anime and I'll show up. Should only take you about twenty minutes to watch two.
>>743456817 >I bet it will change your mind about romance driving a story within two episodes. Define driving a story. It was a major plot point in the last arc of the Gurren Lagann anime, but it wasn't all there was. If it's just romance for sake of romance, then I'm not gonna try to watch something that in all of my experience, I really have no desire to see. No offense.
>>743456958 Romance is literally the only thing in the show I recommend and I still took a chance that you would enjoy the show despite not even having full episodes. If that doesn't show how confident I am in the series I don't know what else will convince you. I guess you can't win them all.
>>743456782 I mentioned it earlier to another anon but personally ballroom e youkoso is actually pretty good. I'm not usually one for anime like that, but even just the first episode presents it so well that I'm hooked. There's a slight hint of romance in the form of a very minor crush but that's it. It's not chock full of fanservice like other anime does but it kinda gives eye candy in the way of full body shots of people in their dancing clothes and looking fantastic > 10/10 would to the box all night again
>>743457084 >There's a slight hint of romance in the form of a very minor crush but that's it. I mean, The Princess Bride was AMAZING, and more than minor romance. But romance wasn't all it was or even most of its identity. >It's not chock full of fanservice like other anime does but it kinda gives eye candy in the way of full body shots of people in their dancing clothes and looking fantastic I can deal with that. I liked Seven Deadly Sins, and could put up with that shit, because they played it to comedic effect, and with Gurren Lagann because it was only one character's outfit AND that's not all she was. What's the show about?
>>743457268 I agree and I'm not saying it's the best anime in the world because I think that's Madoka but even I'll admit not everybody will enjoy Madoka where as I can safely say I really genuinely believe Tsuzure Children can speak to everyone's heart because it's something we all want as humans.
>>743457342 And I'm gonna be honest, the weirdest anime I've seen is Rin: Daughters of Mnemosyne. And I watched that partially because characters, partially because action, and partially because "What the actual fuck am I watching?"
>>743457342 Basically this reclusive kid (not a neet) has no idea what he wants to do with his life with him almost being out of school and walking home one day finds out a girl that he goes to school with goes to a dancing school. After a small event next to the dance studio happens he is brought inside and is introduced to competetive ballroom dancing. He falls in love and starts wanting to go pro TL;DR > Kid finds his true passion and through that is able to grow as a person and make friends and shit
>>743457567 > Kid finds his true passion and through that is able to grow as a person and make friends and shit So Slice of Life. Ok, I'll write it down and give it a shot. Not usually my genre either, but I'm willing to try new things.
>>743457766 Not actually a slice of life, but at the same time it's not like some big 'tooooournament aaaarrrrc' type show. It has a plot and an actual sense of progression but you follow the MC through every step
>>743457843 >it's not like some big 'tooooournament aaaarrrrc' type show If that's an example of your usual type of show, we'd get along swimmingly. Hell, that isn't my own, but I do enjoy a good overhyped, ridiculous tournament.
And yeah, I didn't mean explicitly slice of life, I just meant that it SOUNDS like it tells a story, and the point is the story it tells and the lessons (presumably).
I'm actually pretty happy about this. This "anime general" type thread is a lot more fun than /a/ ever was for me. You guys over here on /b/ are actually pretty fun. I almost don't even think I'd go back if I could.
Listen OP, no matter how hard you try in the current state of /b/ you'll never be able to discuss anime without shitposters sending your thread to oblivion in a matter of minutes, not only that. Since /b/ is much faster than /a/ it will be hard to even get any replies to your (uncommon here) thread. My suggestion is just to use another you know what m8 chan. Also why did they ban phoneposters?
>>743458189 >You guys over here on /b/ are actually pretty fun. That's basically what /b/ has literally always been. It's thousands of individual interests, and the ones that people see and reply to last longer and are more likely seen by more people. It's democracy due to lack of structure. Everybody gets a voice, some don't get heard because they're in the minority.
>>743458047 I watch just about any genre so long as the anime itself is good. My favorite series is Baka to test to shoukanjuu personally (Manga and light novels are my shit, anime is pretty good too imo) if that says anything
>>743458189 An ''anime general'' could work but you will rarely find people here who know any but the most popular titles. Hardly anyone would know what is Hidamari Sketch for example, also it's not Yotsuba but 404 girl.
>>743458570 The fact that everybody seems a little more relaxed as doesn't seem like they have a perpetual stick up their ass more than makes up for it. I probably have enough anime knowledge to make up for everybody so that doesn't bother me.
>>743458622 I'll never do that again. Threads like these are my new thing. I feel so free that I can talk about literally any anime I feel like whenever I want with the same people in the thread and I won't get bitched at by weebs.
>>743458570 To be fair, that last point is because people stopped shitting all over people who wouldn't lurk moar. I know who Yotsuba is, even though I haven't read it. And yeah. I'm not claiming to know super obscure shit. But that's mostly because I watch anime for the same reason I watch any other animated shit. Because I like it, regardless of medium.
>>743458660 >The fact that everybody seems a little more relaxed as doesn't seem like they have a perpetual stick up their ass Some people will have sticks up their asses, but that's going to be more "lol fucking neckbeard weeb" than "your tastes are plebian, I'm the sole fucking arbiter for what is GOOD".
>>743458575 It actually makes fun of fanservice in the anime since they went with a parody spin on the series with the anime adaptation (motherfucking Jojos reference, ginyu force, etc.) And so yes there's a bit of bouncing boobs and the trap but they never show panty but make Jones about that shit constantly. Season 2 hits a bit harder for most of it and plays out more seriously in more parts than season 1 but both seasons and the ovas are good imo >>743458588 Ah hell yeah, hope you enjoy it
>>743458810 Hopefully I will because watching series as they air drives me crazy. I just like to marathon an anime and call it good for a while Ann's have to to think about and discuss the anime fully before moving on.
>>743458795 >Gallons upon gallons of nostril blood, Fuck. Worse than Kill La Kill or that one about fighting with asses?
>>743458810 >It actually makes fun of fanservice in the anime since they went with a parody spin on the series with the anime adaptation (motherfucking Jojos reference, ginyu force, etc.) AWWWW SHIT, THIS I CAN GET BEHIND. Seven Deadly Sins was good because it at least lampshaded that shit SUPER hard and laughed at the character. I'm definitely gonna give this a shot. Do you happen to know if it's on CrunchyRoll? Also, JoJo Season 5 S O O N.
>>743458960 It is on crunchy roll and yeah like theother anon did there is a shit ton of nosebleeds but like I said it's for the sake of parody. Closest you get to a panty shot is seeing a draft come in as the perv character is trying to look up best grills skirt and you see his facial expression change dramatically
>>743459063 Thank god. Hell, I even think I'd enjoy Highschool of The Dead, but FUCKING FANSERVICE just... So that's good to know. Nosebleeds are fine, reactions are fine. But if I'm going to watch excessive ass and tits for enjoyment, I'm gonna be jerking off to porn, y'know what I mean?
>>743459053 Dear lord. I know that feel. HxH is so fucking hard to put down. I still have it on my queue on Crunchyroll JUST IN CASE THEY START UP A NEW ANIME, because I NEED MORE GON DOING RIDICULOUS SHIT and I'm too lazy to read the mangoes.
>>743459311 > A man of culture I see If you end up liking the anime I highly recommend reading all the current manga, cuz I may love the anime with a fiery passion but B O I, that manage does the series so much more judtice
>>743459471 >Kiss x Sis level of ecchi Haven't seen that, and I'm curious as to why you're recommending that with that specific description, given everything I've said ITT. Anything else you can tell me? What's it about?
"The story begins with Izumi Hayato running to be student body president. But when a beautiful girl swings in promising the liberalization of love while flinging condoms into the audience, he ends up losing to her and becoming the vice president. At the student council meeting, the newly-elected president invites herself over to Izumi's house, where she promptly announces she is to become Izumi's wife thanks to an agreement—facilitated by alcohol—made between their parents when they were only 3. ''
Wait okay the fuck is going on with /a/? I posted there a bit ago from my phone... Is it only when im using 4G or whatever? Anyone got the deets on whats up? Not like i used a too often anyway outside of occasionally drawing shit i guess
Anyone down to talk about horror manga in the thread?
>Ito's horror anthology is getting an anime >cant remember the director's name but i just remember he did kinda shit for some other shit >so a bit nervous on that front but other than that >hype
>>743459910 They banned mobile so you have o buys pass just so the mods can have your balls in their hands. If you do literally anything wrong they will ban you and pocket your money you paid for the pass.
>>743460014 Ahh, ok... Well... Bit reluctant on that one. There's only one topic I really like. Not against ecchi in GENERAL, but again, If I wanna watch something like that, I'm going to be watching porn.
>>743460022 Fuck..... Gyo? I don't think it was a shark, but I thiiiiink thats what your talking about. I actually havent seen the movies yet, so im just going on manga memory. But dude yeah the whole anthology is getting done. I just hope they stick to the source material. I recall hearing the Uzumaki live action fucked shit up here and there.
And dude i didnt expect anyone to actually wanna talk horror manga so hit me with a series you like outside of Ito because we all know his is great.
I'll start with a tame one: The Promised Neverland. It actually doesnt have a horror tag, but it should probably have one. A series with actually smart kids in it and a fucked up world.
>>743460023 Wait you serious? So no matter what, if im using my phone, my shit aint going through? Is it like a shadowban because im still seeing my replies and shit.
>>743460116 Dude you pretty much suck. Just watch Tsuzure Children, Madoka or the Disappearance of Haruhi. If you're really that desperate for a recommendation you really can't go wrong between the three of them.
Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku is a cute show about cute magical girls doing good deeds and cute things. There is absolutely NO violence and people being torn apart in the show whatsoever. Just the main girl collecting points of good deeds. Absolutely no gore at all!
>>743460341 Yeah, could swear I've seen screencaps or clips of the show, and there's a shark breaking down a door somewhere... Right! They used the panel with it as an exploitable for one of the "multi track drifting" edits.
Honestly, wouldn't specifically know the names. I know I've seen a lot of Ito, and that I recognize specifically, but I wouldn't know the names of may others I've seen, because most of what I've seen has been dumps on /b/. Sorry. Don't think I'll be fantastic for discussing it, but that definitely is cool, so I'll look into just about any manga of the genre you suggest as long as it's solid. Sorry, bud.
>>743460361 >You don't want to watch things you don't like/that I like, therefore you suck I'm not desperate for a recommendation. I have plenty of other shit I could watch. I'm open to suggestion.
>>743460613 >Oh hey there was a shark Yup, 100% Gyo is what you're thinking of dude.
Naw naw it's cool man. I'm used to talking with people that arent huge into the genre, so its no biggie. I'd be glad to recc you some titles though! Hit me with what you like. You cool with gore? Any specific types of series (survival game, fantasy, survival, zombies, etc.) or particular character types your into (yandere, super cute characters doing freaky shit, female/male lead, etc). Dont have to give those if you dont wanna though.... I just happen to like too many series so i usually end up overwhelming people with a recc list because i always go overboard :')
>>743460995 I mean, don't get me wrong, I LOVE seeing horror from different cultures. Just something about how it's... Just kinda abstract from OUR perceptions, y'know? Like... What America is SAW and Japan is Junju Ito and fucking mythical turtles that you have to make bow. I like mostly the surreal shit, or anything based in mythos/folklore. I guess the best way to describe it is... Well, how would you describe the body of works from Mr. Junji? Just kinda... Abstract weird shit. Starts all normal, and then suddenly "Wait, what?" Another one I liked that someone dumped was.... I believe the english translation was Three Shadows? Not quite sure if that was Ito or not, it's obvious when shit distorts that yeah, it's him, but when it's more realistic... Can be hard to tell.
I honestly don't even know why what Homura did was even controversial. Anybody who actually paid attention to her character should have known 100% she was going to do that. There's literally foreshadowing all over the place.
>I'd do anything for one more chance, even if it turns me into a monster
>>743461271 Hmm... Just from memory, all I can think of is Corpse Party: Book of Shadows? But dude i feel you. Personally, as long as the setting fits the story and isnt horribly out of place, im cool with whatever.
But okay off the top of my head here are some titles you might be into
I Am A Hero (give it a bit, its not JUST zombies. Trust me.)
Shit... There was an anime featuring a lot of short stories... Fuck i cant think of the title, but each episode is like 5 minutes and its on crunchyroll
Theres also Mononoke that i think you'd dig
Apocalypse no Toride (again, not your average zombies)
Gonna just say Murcielago because it needs more love
Dorohedoro is more shounen for me tbh, but you may dig it
Yuka Yamada's work may be up your alley
Fuan no Tane (and Fuan no Tane Plus)
Dashu Jiang has a manga full of abstract short stories
Yoshitomi Akihito may be up your alley too
Vovnich Hotel (maybe more comedy but fuck i love it)
Oyasumi Punpun, although its not really a horror series
And I'll stop there haha...... I really like the genre man sorry for getting carried away.
>>743461271 There are a LOT of horror manga with short stories usually with bits based on folklore. Like Screaming Lessons (or Classroom? Cant remember) is a tame one... Like super tame tbh. Those would probably be good for ya. Plenty of little oneshots too
>>743462160 Went for non-mainstream series if I could help it man. Also, the Another anime was shit... Okay if you havent seen the following... Manga was alright. Novel was great.
Which is why i dont typically put it on the list right away because most people i talk to dont have time to read novels nowadays and honestly i just have read so much of the horror manga/manhua genre that ive simply read better than Another. Shrugs.
>>743462016 I told a guy who said he didn't like romance anime that Tsuzure Children is series that focuses on romance and that it didn't even have full episodes. I then told him to go watch the first two episodes and come back and if I was wrong about him liking it I would admit it and own up. I'm pretty confident in it.
>>743461876 >Corpse Party: Book of Shadows Don't think so. The whole plot was that the guy could see three shadows from his window into an alley, so he goes to check it out... It's not very long, but it was pretty good.
>I Am A Hero (give it a bit, its not JUST zombies. Trust me.) I don't mind just zombies, but noted.
>Shit... There was an anime featuring a lot of short stories... Fuck i cant think of the title, but each episode is like 5 minutes and its on crunchyroll Lemme know if you figure it out. That'd be real handy because I do have CrunchyRoll, and it's easier than looking for good rips on free sites.
>Theres also Mononoke that i think you'd dig Looked it up, because I figured I'd save you the trouble of asking "...as in Princess?" Read the My Anime List up until"Psychological analysis" and I'm sold.
>Apocalypse no Toride (again, not your average zombies) Zombies meets Assault on Precinct 13... I can dig it. Also liked Deadman Wonderland, but that's definitely more Shounen.
>Dorohedoro is more shounen for me tbh, but you may dig it I do like me some Shounen. Definitely heading to the top of the list.
>And I'll stop there haha...... I really like the genre man sorry for getting carried away. Don't sweat it. I know the feeling. It's cool to see someone get very passionate about stuff, and I kinda get that feeling of immediately wanting to share this shit after I've seen it so I can have someone else to go "WHAT THE FUCK, THOUGH?" with.
>>743462160 >didn't even mention Another I'll add that to the list.
>>743462427 THE ANIME IS YAMI SHIBAI FUCK It just clicked man anyway
Shit... That sounds really fucking familiar and its killing me... I'll be hunting for that tonight.
And haha yeah man, usually when I bring up Mononoke everyone thinks Ghibli... But its probably one of my favorite anime out there honestly. Its fucking fantastic and I'm almost 100% positive you'll dig it.
.... Im gonna throw Psyren in there and yeah its not gloriously amazing but i love the series and its p much shounen
Theres also Gimmick!! But im pretty sure you cant find any scans of it online sadly.. Ive only met one person that has read the series though, so no sweat over it.
But dude, I'm gonna pass out soon on my end, but if you ever wanna talk about horror and shit, im always down to have a pal for it. >my tumblr is futa-police >we can exchange discord or whatever you're cool with if you dont have a tumblr tho >if you want to anyway
I'm always down to give out titles man. Just hmu whenever.
>>743462710 Not the guy you're talking to but I passed up on Mononoke for a long time because I thought I wouldn't be interested and watched it a couple weeks ago finally and it's held up well. I enjoyed it a lot and while it wasn't in my top five of the best anime movies I've ever seen it's definitely something worth watching.
>>743462789 Pft naw dude im not posting it here thats asking for trouble....... That ive already experienced.
The email is mil[email protected] . we can be email buddies or use discord idc. Although, i tend to use discord only every now and again and im shit at keeping in contact with friends. Im a bad friend. So a heads up on that one man sorry. Ill fix my shit eventually
>>743462879 Honestly, i can relate. I put it off for soooo long and it just... Fuck dude i ended up loving it. I mean, im positive i could listen off titles i enjoy more, but its still up there at least in the horror anime section... Considering there arent too many decent horror anime im super into. I read more anyway haha
>>743462789 My phone is dying btw and its 5am for me so theres a chance i wont reply until late tomorrow (today but w/e im tired). Just saiyan in case i dont respond right away. The email is right though, so as long as you didnt make any typos or copy/pasted wrong, i should get it.
I like characters that grow on you because of their personality alone but they seem week compared to the main characters but they eventually reveal they're stronger than the main characters put together even though you thought they might end up being nothing but comic relief.
