Mahou Shoujo Ikusei Keikaku is a cute show about cute magical girls doing good deeds and cute things. There is absolutely NO violence and people being torn apart in the show whatsoever. Just the main girl collecting points of good deeds. Absolutely no gore at all!

Not the guy you're talking to but I passed up on Mononoke for a long time because I thought I wouldn't be interested and watched it a couple weeks ago finally and it's held up well. I enjoyed it a lot and while it wasn't in my top five of the best anime movies I've ever seen it's definitely something worth watching.
