Yep. It's called a Bigfin Squid or Long armed squid. Largest ones have been recorded to be a total of 26 ft long. They are harmless and they live fairly deep

>>743310548
When the Brittanic, the Titanic's sister ship, sunk, the captain thought he could keep her going and beach the ship so it wasnt a total loss. The passengers, in a panic, starting putting themselves off in lifeboats without permission.
Two of the lifeboats launched were chopped up by the still spinning prop blades, killing almost everyone inside.
Look at that pic and imagine getting sucked into it as it spun. Hell of a way to go huh?

Here's what the two major sections of Titanic would look like now.
And here's an image of her stern. Since there is absolutely no light down there, these image have to be made from tons of tiny images stitched together. No one's really sure how long the wreck will be there. Eventually she will collapse under her own weight and fade away into nothing but rust. The propellers should be there for a long time though since they're made of bronze.

the ocean is truly an amazing place

>>743331275

it was an illusion, brother
Am I the only one with this fear
>>743330892
It is crazy. Even 100 years later and Titanic is in a lot better shape than some other ships like Lusitania, who has already collapsed onto her herself since she's in water susceptible to tides and seasonal changes.
Two years to build her, a little over two hours to lose her, and a century later we're still talking about her.
>>743331710
what's the pic supposed to be?
>>743331627
Same here. There are only two things that scare me. Deep water and confined spaces.
>>743331710
It's colder than your grandma's asshole down there. Corrosion almost stops.
>>743331933
Same anon. I'm mildly claustrophobic...I also have casadastraphobia which is an irrational fear of being sucked into the sky. But the only thing worse is imagining myself in the middle of an endless, deep ocean...especially at night
>>743331897
Crane for the life boats.
>>743331933
this makes me so uncomfortable
why would you do this why would anyone do this
>>743331897
They're some of Titanic's davits, the cranes used to lower the lifeboats.
>>743332004
It definitely slows it down but they've discovered bacteria down there that eats the rust. I've seen some proposals to release a bacteria that eats the other one, or apply some kind of special coating, which would preserve the wreck for a much longer period of time.

>>743332392
That would fuck with the ecosystem that the wreck made. It's been endlessly catalogued. Would probably be cooler to watch the process.
>>743332392
>release a bacteria that eats the other one, or apply some kind of special coating
why the fuck do we humans always put our disgusting fingers in things like this? why not just let it go the way it's supposed to go?
who knows what kind of reaction or biological impact this new bacteria could have in the ocean and in the deepsea beings lives

People want to preserve her but with the most recent expeditions, I think just about everything that could be photographed and documented has done so. I also think there's a few more expeditions planned which will gather even more material.
I'm not entirely sure how I feel about those proposed ideas. On one hand, I'd love for her to exist forever and maybe some day my dream of seeing her with my own eyes could come true. On the other, you two make a valid point. It's not man's job or place to try to defy nature in that way, that exact type of thinking it what lead to the Titanic disaster in the first place.
>>743324830

>>743333225
i'm not saying this phobia doesn't exists, bro
just saying that it doesn't make any fucking sense
>inb4 irrational
yea i got that part right
but how does this fear even hit you? like you're walking down the street having a good time, you look up and then "OH FUCK, OH FUCK, OH FUCK..."? explain
>>743332987
Dude with casadastraphobia here.
First-off you're taking this very personally for a condition you don't even have lol
Second it's not so much a fear of getting sucked into the sky as it is an almost reverse fear of heights. It's similar to that feeling you have standing up on a tall building and being more afraid of looking upwards and losing your balance than you are of looking down.
It's hard to explain.

>>743333465
I used to have it too and it started when tripping at a concert. we were up in the lawn and I laid down for a minute staring up in the sky and immediately got that sense of imbalance/falling only...it was looking at the sky. I ended up having to go to therapy because it was hard to even walk out on my front lawn without getting weirded out of being exposed to the open sky. It was actually fucking miserable.
>>743332129
I am far more claustrophobic than I am afraid of water. I have reluctantly swam long distances across deep open water. Working in a crawlspace gives me panic attacks though.
>>743333722
Yup. Most of them to keep the masts and funnels in place. Some rope ladders to access lights and the forward cargo derrick. The four wires going across the two masts are the antennae for the Marconi system.
