Yeah I had a lot of strange little superstitious quirks floating around my house growing up.

As another example my mother always insisted on brushing our teeth before we had breakfast, as a sign of gratitude for consuming the lord's gift of food. Result was that breakfast always tasted like shit and OJ was unbearable most mornings.

Another example would be saying magic words in a language I didnt understand before doong anything important, to incur God's blessing. Got to the point where I became so nervous about saying it that 9 yo me thought I would fail even the most minor undertaking without providential help.

Then whenever I was at my aunt's house she would have us walk over a small fire 3 times a day as a means of protections against demons.

Also couldn't be out directly after sun down, because that was when the fire demons dupposedly regained their dominion of earth by raining down from the firmament in hordes, cursing any "clay man" (as my grandmother called people) they could see.

Wasn't allowed on any electronic devices on weekdays and only an hour a day on weekends. This rule was implemented for half my childhood. Also only had a shitty laptop that could only run the worst games at 30 fps. All my friends had a proper pc and I couldn't join in them in playing the games they did often. My parents wouldn't buy me an actual computer even though they spent about 5 times as much on my other siblings for "needs". Stuff like a $4k bike my brother would get and I got nothing. They didn't even buy me the laptop, it was a gift from my gran. What did I do deserve to have this bullshit?
