Rockport fag here, right where the eye is passing over right now. Ive been on facebook and I've seen everything. Multiple buildings have been damaged and have collapsed. Not sure how many people have died. Multiple people are trapped in their homes that have partially collapsed. The highschool is partially collapsed as well and there's damaged shit everywhere. I'm in Brownsville down by Mexico right now so I'm safe. My house is still standing, I know this because I have a family member who stayed behind by his own choice and all is well in my neighborhood, just downed fences, sheds and power lines. I went to our regional supermarket chain (HEB) earlier today to grab something to eat and a Dr Pepper, and I fucking kid you not...the aisles were stripped fucking bare of ALL bottled water, canned goods, and bread. The last time I saw this was new year's eve 1999 because of the stupid Y2K hysteria.
We have some really nice cool windy weather right now (2:05am), but everyone is losing their heads and overreacting as if we're on the coast. And of course Taco Cabana closed early and put plastic over everything even though the McDonald's next door to it was still open as usual. And now it's looking like we might not even get much of anything at all. Every time one of the arms of the hurricane makes it to us it just dissipates.
