she looks like cp

but meaning of life is easy. to propogate life. that's it. nothing more.

insects live to begat the next generation. plants live to begat the next generation. animals live to begat that next generation.

Humans, we live to begat the next generation. When you think we're here for a higher purpose - we're not. What happens when people have kids. Every single one says "now I know it's all about my kids. I would do ANYTHING for them. I would die for them"

yep, we're just stupid animals too. That is THE meaning of life. sorry to disappoint.

I'm currently living off financial aid, but I know what work is. I got into college late for financial and medical reasons. Sometimes life kicks me down, sometimes it hands my friends free shit, but that only means what I decide it means. I decided it means that I have to work harder than other people, but that won't stop me from going further. That means my triumphs are all the sweeter. That means my life can't be compared with other people's.

Enjoy feeling sorry for yourself though, I hope it means something to you.

This is my personal philosophy, so I don't know if it's true or not, as no one knows what the fuck the universe actually is.

I think the purpose is actually simple, it's to experience it. Not to enjoy or be tortured by it, but for consciousness to experience it, all of it. Maybe we are here to re-learn, because outside, we've learned all we can.

One thing I notice about consciousness is it gets bored with repetition, yet when it experiences things for the first time, it is joyful and interesting, or terrifying.

The way particle physics works, with waves being transformed into matter by being observed reminds me of how video games render graphics upon observation..

I think this is a simulation for us to forget an relearn, and that we'll never know the answer, because we're not supposed to.

So just enjoy the experience.

Life has no objective purpose. People own themselves, and hold values, which are subjective. Being that we are self owners, we get to decide what we are used for, in essence, our purpose. Our purpose is to achieve those subjective values, as that is what we have to choose from, in reference to how we will be used. I think libertarian ethics and the golden rule are important, as well, but do not refer to out purpose, just what we can and cannot do, consistently. I think that is important to mention, as my idea of purpose is subjective, selfish and individualistic, but there are still rules that are not exactly that, that are still valid.

The "reproduce and pass your genes" thing is bullshit, if you have shit genes and you know it, you'll only be dragging down our species in the big picture and sooner or later someone along the lines will be clever enough to not have children in your bloodline and actually help humanity develop. The more retards populate this planet the worse we are off, if thats our life's purpose then I'm gonna an hero, fuck this gay earth.

True meaning of life is to find a 'gift', like finding out what you're good at, making music, being a potentially great actor etc and the life's purpose is to give it to the world, to contribute. That will make you immortal in one way or another and if you are remembered forever then your life carries on in a sense, don't need no kids for that shit.

Fellow programmer here, dropping by to let you know that observing particles in that experiment means physically interacting with them. We don't know if particles actually travel infinite routes, or just act in a way that can be modeled probabilisticly (see pilot wave theory). Theoretical physicists will tell you time and time again that your consciousness plays no role in the double slit experiment.
>>
>>743210839
Time is relative, it's actually space manipulated by gravity, and different throughout the universe depending on gravitational fields. Time on earth is a human construct, it doesn't fit with the rest of the universe.

>your consciousness plays no role
Agreed, it was a machine that measures the particles.. But is seems like ANY observation or measurement, conscious or not, changes it. Which means this may be a very very very very sophisticated computer.
>>
>>743210944

Earth's gravitational field doesn't dictate time flow, nor does the sun, it's the galaxy, so in terms of our point of view in our timeline we can state that, at this very moment, time is absolute.
>>
Purpose implies reason. The universe is cold and uncaring. There is no reason for any of this, other than what we make up.

My purpose in life is to make sure my kids don't grow up to be idiots. It's up to them after that.

Apparently we are a way for the universe to learn about itself. Think of it as every person being a separate 'google search', like we google things to learn shit, same way the universe asks questions through us and by our experiences it learns about what it is, making us learn what WE are. Thats our purpose I think.

I know it's hard to comprehend, but it turns waves into particles upon observation. This is a huge mystery, and could explain sub atomic particles can be used to create technology like quantum internet. It's more than "so, mystical"

>Since that page is clearly to advanced for you, have a Youtube video. https://youtu.be/KePNhUJ2reI [Remove]

As many have said, purpose in life is procreation. It's what we're biologically wired for and generally your happiness is DIRECTLY proportional to how well you're doing at that task.

Now humans are an intellectual creature and you CAN replace that purpose with something else.... but generally speaking, a sexually mature adult needs some amount of sexual stimulation to keep your head on straight. It's why so many of us are fucked up. If we got our dick wet a bit more we'd be a lot better adjusted.

>>
>>743206479
.... why specify mammals ? The purpose of bread mold is to do the same thing. But anyways the only point to living is to die. It's what we were born to do. Even species are born to die as a whole, every organism is designed to mutate and eventually have their species die. So put your nuts in a microwave and get someone pregnant since that's the point of existence is just to be an experiment and mix genes
>>
>>743212130
I never argued that gravity wasn't an important aspect of time. You'd have to be illiterate to not know Einstein's most famous theories (I believe that was the one that finally earned him the nobel prize, wasn't it?). In any case, if space and time were the same thing, space wouldn't be able to swap places with time in high gravity, and we'd be able to move backwards in time as we are able to in space. They are not the same.

And please, in the future don't use the word proof ever when speaking about science. The literal point of science is that there is no such thing as proving anything. My favorite professor in college had the greatest line of "there's no such thing as proof in science unless you're takjing about the liquor you drink while working on your thesis, and the only absolute is absolute zero and we don't even know about that." To say the word proof is to accept you have a complete model of what's going on. Like I said, literally it's as unscientific as you can get.

This question is actually really simple to answer:

1. Knowledge is impossible.
2. If knowledge is impossible, meaning is also impossible. Because if no being could ever know the meaning, it's meaningless.

I'm not hating on him, I'm trying to help him and improve the way people view science. When people talk about proof that's when many people turn their heads and it's how people start to view things the same way the church teaches them. It's about keeping your mind open. But yeah he should say wave like patterns, they aren't waves. Waves are just the easiest way to explain the phenomenon, the more accurate way to explain it would be like a corkscrewing rollercoaster, the spin of the different subatomic particles influences how they are all behaving along with them constantly repelling and attracting each other so it flies similar to a tumbling bullet only the bullet is constantly morphing. I'm not hating, I'm trying to help. I'm not a scientist I'm a researcher yes. And my mother lives in our basement. I do have four grad students that follow me around and the one is a MLP dude. He's weird. I think everyone should talk and think science but at least understand the fundamental concept.

It's not fallacious. Beyond very simple descriptions of your current experience (e.g. "I see a red car right now"), nothing can be known at all.
If you disagree, it would be easy for you to just tell me one thing you know for certain that is not of the very simple kind I just mentioned.

And don't mistake a statement like "I see a red car" as a description of some kind of underlying reality either. You don't know whether the car exists, just that there is a perception that you call a red car.

So I guess we're in agreement that your first supposition was in fact fallacious.

Moving on, what you describe is a philosophical idea known as skepticism. In order to believe in skepticism, you must ignore all the science has shown us. All that guides you to following skepticism is the idea that our knowledge is imperfect. It's an inherently flawed philosophy.

hell yeah dude that's what's up. Astronomy is a weird study though from what I know right now. I work in pesticide development and am in chemistry and botany but the field of astronomy at this point as far as I know may be a really good job market because tons of them are at retiring age. But also from what little I know it's super super super boring. Like looking at numbers all day everyday and just trying to pick out patterns. There's a ton of math involved. Not as high level math but it takes a heavy proficiency in quick math skills. Like I said though I really don't know but just one person I know is retiring from the field and he's said that they're running out of astronomers basically. I work with development of deterrents for mammals basically which is super fun, instead of basing chemicals around killing things it's more of to scare the shit out of deer but predominantly rodents early in the season after planting.

That sounds fun as fuck. NASA was being defunded when I was in school, so I went network engineer. I figured I could work anywhere in the world as everywhere needs internet. Worked out pretty well, I've tried to donate to NASA, but my financial adviser told me not to donate to gov agencies as it's horribly allocated, unfortunately. Kek, it's not really knowledge, but since you already have difficulties of grasping the rest of the argument, it's futile to go more into this.

> Moving on, what you describe is a philosophical idea known as skepticism. In order to believe in skepticism, you must ignore all the science has shown us. All that guides you to following skepticism is the idea that our knowledge is imperfect. It's an inherently flawed philosophy.
I'd usually call it epistemological nihilism, but skepticism fits as well.
Science is independent of this. Science doesn't generate knowledge, doesn't mean it can't be useful, just that it doesn't describe "reality" (at least it's not knowable whether it does or doesn't).
All other philosophies are actually inherently flawed, because they all need to be based on unknowable assumptions.

no it wil never be more diverse, a y chromosome linage lost is a y chromosome linage lost, if you dont have a male child as a male your genetics end there.
there is just lesser and lesser amount of genetics.

you dont get new markers from mixing race, you have one race pushing out the others race its genetics

mixing race reduces variation and in some cases it is genocide
>>

>>
>>743215453
Who is this universe?
>>
>>743214791
The point of procreation is to mix genetics. Even if you get down to the simplest species of complex organisms like mosses and liverworts they all have evolved to try to not stay a homogeneous group because it's a dangerous area for life when genetics don't differ enough, it makes the population wide open to viruses, infections, and unstable mutations. You should look into bryophytes sometime and look at how hard even moss tries to keep reproduction going with staggered generations. Or honeybees and social insects are fascinating too. Every female in the colony is a diploid but each male is only a haploid, essentially they are clones of the queens grandfather and can never mate successfully with the queen therefore ensuring that inbreeding can't happen. Every female that is born from a queen is essentially a half sister to the queen. A queen flies off when they are born and are ready to leave their original hive and they swarm during a time when drones also fly and she mates as much as possible and stores that sperm for life. This ensures genetic diversity. It's part of the cause of colony collapse problems is that so many of our bees we were rearing were to genetically similar because of our husbandry basically and keeping hives all so close together in clusters. So if there is some genetics susceptible to diseases caused by endospore forming bacteria then they are all fucked in that area.
>>
>>743214773
>People will be able to pick and choose their race eventually
no, biggest bullshit ever, even in plants only a few from thousands experiments are viable. you cannot change a existing creature.

on top of that they need genetics to inject in the first place, if those genetics have been mixed out of existence you cant shoot them in.
>implying shit wont fall apart in 50 years from now

>Science is independent of this.
Science is what we use to generate more accurate information, it is a complex system, like your brain, like the process of evolution, and like the universe itself. Nothing has been shown to better describe "reality". Skepticism on the other hand denies that same reality. Skepticism does this without any evidence. While many philosophies are unknowable, not all are inherently flawed as skepticism is. This should be obvious when you consider that all of science was once philosophy.

>if those genetics have been mixed out of existence you cant shoot them in
Just out of curiosity, all this Neanderthal DNA that people are supposed to have like 3 or 4 percent, is it the same 3 or 4 percent?
If not, couldn't we piece together most of a Neanderthal genome even though it's mixed out of existence?

It probably is since the funding will be basically screwed for space exploration now. In general in the US we have just quit when it comes to funding education in science it's sad. I work through a state facility technically and we've had some budget cuts that hit the entomology department really hard. A bunch of mycology research was completely cut as well and fighting fungi is a lot more important then what people think ya know ? Luckily my department has been stable and my group of coworkers in our sort of mini group have all signed contracts away from keeping our research entirely public. Some state facilities are basically being bought to do private research on partially the public dime, those people are miserable now because it's all about making deadlines for the companies they work for rather then actual innovation. If you really want to get into a great field though and love new ideas and shit, look into Penn States mycology programs. It's a huge field in PA, not sure on your location but I'm not far form there and know a lot of people that work through them and love it, they have a lot of free range to study as they please. I live in Ohio but originally from Poland, came here around Jr. high and the US education system is fucked lol. In high school we had science text books from the 70s ... most classes didn't even have text books because the funding went to new football stadiums for the school instead of books. Even colleges it's messed up, americans don't realize how weird it looks to the rest of the world that universities have their staffs being cut while they are expanding their athletic systems... like what the hell ? I got my scholarship through my grades and got a full ride and there were athletes at my college that couldn't pass elementary algebra... lol I tutored some and was astounded.

That would be a parasite ... almost all organisms are either photosynthesizing or saprophytic on earth. Pretty much everything feeds on dead tissue and decomposes it or it uses the sun. Viruses are organisms but they aren't life. Parasitic organisms aren't very common in nature they aren't that diverse, typically organisms evolve to form a symbiotic relationship with other life. Humans aren't parasites, we just fuck stuff up.
