Artists challenge the status quo, create new media and in some cases control the culture and hearts they're exposed to. Some people make it huge in the arts and are set for life, while other go their whole existence without recognition. I'd ague that artists fit into a high risk, hi reward tier, not a garbage one. When I look back at whats been preserved in history I see works of art, and while sure science is changing and ever growing and improving, a scientist today will surely have all their works updated, replaced and altered beyond recognition in the next several hundred years.
