The oi & street punks dress in their little costumes, all the local music sounds the same, and they think drinking and smoking makes them cool. Too afraid to do drugs or commit crime besides open container in public at worst. Shit tons of this. Was involved with the scene for 15 years, did booking, merch, hosted bands, seen more shows than I can remember.
Was a lot of fun when it was about the music and camaraderie, no matter who you were, you were treated as an equal. I watched the SJW bullshit start to eat away at whatever unity they had as early as 2010. Suddenly all the girls stopped getting in the pit, and the ugliest ones became the biggest "activists". I like a lot of the anarcho-crust shit and still enjoy my powerviolence(see hardcore for fat kids) but the fact that our group would accept anyone made the already weak minded beta males turn omega the louder the females got. Part of the reason why my gfs were always from outside the scene.

There have been a bunch of great punk records put out in the last few years by bands like Nurse, the Impalers, Slimy Member, Hurula, Zero, Lumpy and the Dumpers; The War Goes On; Sunshine Ward; Storm of Sedition...it's a great time, musically.

I love the energy and excitement and physicality of punk shows, and I like a lot of the music (I'm more of a metalhead though), but a lot of punk subculture is fucking retarded. I can understand if you're a "fuck everything, let's just rock n roll and party til we die!" kinda punk, cuz I was like that for a few years, but then there are people who actually take being a punk seriously, get seriously into punk inspired politics, think they have some sort of mass-action army in the punk scene, or think of themselves as intelletcuals.

I also never understood the fashion. It's so silly that punks take an hour in the bathroom every day to get their hair up, plus hours individually gluing on spikes to everything to intentionally look shitty. They pride themselves on looking shitty while simultaneously putting that much effort into their look. When I hung around punks I just buzzed my head every month and wore blue jeans with band shirts and a flannel. Anyone who takes being a punk seriously is seriously retarded. The whole cultre needs to get more on the level of metalheads, who realize the coolness and importance of their scene is way past its prime and don't take everything so fucking seriously.
