You'll hear horror stories, but it's really no that bad working there. Some jobs are better than others. Being a picker is one of the better jobs. Packer is o.k., but you'll be around noisy conveyors all day. Stower isn't hard, but it's boring and most people hate it. If possible, try to apply to become an Amnesty Floor Monitor. They wander around the floors and service down robots (a pretty easy job, much better than anything else at Tier I).

The downsides:
1. The 15 minute breaks include the time it takes to walk to the breakroom and back, so expect to lose 5-6 minutes to that.

2. They do keep track of your rates very closely, but if you're not a total slacker you should be able to keep up.

3. Mandatory overtime. During peak, you may wind up working 5 11-hour or even 12-hour days in a row. That's brutal. They also call MOT during certain non peak times.

Positives:

1. Benefits, including medical, kick in on day 1.

2. They are very chill with attendance. You have a certain number of vacation, personal and unpaid time hours. Vacation's the only one you need to give advance notice to use. You can just not show up one night and use paid or unpaid time to cover and that's fine with them. However, if you go below 0 hours of unpaid time, you're fired.

Being a PA is a sweet spot. At $19-22/hr with overtime, you'll be making more per hour than the Area Managers. They are the next level up from PA and they are salaried. These guys get worked like dogs, crazy hours and make only about $5,000/year more than a PA. They get additional restricted stock options, but they take time to vest and many don't last long enough to collect.

That's the reason I left. I didn't want to move up because all the area managers and ops managers were being worked to death (some look like they skip showering certain days) and I didn't want that. I could've stayed a PA, but I didn't see doing that forever.

Stay with it. Volunteer for Saturday driver and helper and cover driver and you'll be driving in no time. I fucked up and quit before making it to driver.
