Maybe connor would have a chance against a generic boxing-pro, but floyd is one of the greatest of all time and not because of his physic (like tyson etc.), but for his skill. Smaller gloves would only be trouble for connor since gloyd is used to punches harder than connors, while floyds punches will hit connor like a truck. Nobody in MMA can punch like a professional boxer you juicehead. While connors hands are top-notch in MMA they are pretty mediocore in boxing and his hands are all he has in this fight.

This fight is a spectacle, a freak show. It's not meant to be a "good" fight, but an interesting fight to watch. Conor isn't a heavy hitter, and neither is Floyd. With 10-ounce pillow gloves we may not see a knockout from either one. What we'll probably see is a world champion boxer dance around someone who has some experience in amateur boxing.

Conor is a great MMA fighter, but Floyd isn't -just- a great boxer, he's a great defensive boxer. Floyd stands in front of champion fighters and they can't land hits on him. He gives them his left shoulder and it's very difficult for fighters to counter that. He's maybe taken 5 or 6 actual solid hits in his career. 49 bouts and only 5 or 6 punches have landed in his face. Manny Pacquiao came very close to beating Floyd, but Floyd's defensive technique stopped Manny from doing any significant damage throughout the fight. "All it takes is one punch" is still true, but that's one punch that Conor will have to struggle to land. It will be an uphill battle for Conor

Conor has 2 advantages that could possibly win him the fight: stamina and movement. MMA fighters are said to have more stamina than boxers, so in theory Conor could simply wear down Floyd and get in some good shots near the end of the fight. Floyd tends to change tactics in the final rounds. He starts throwing more punches when he sees that his opponent is losing power, and he starts taking more risks. If Conor is able to out last Floyd, he could throw off his rhythm and do some damage.

People who have seen Conor training have said that his movements are unorthodox. He doesn't move like a boxer. That could also disrupt Floyd's game plan, but it's unclear how effective that would be.

Mayweather is one of the most "by the books" fighters I've ever watched. He is a technical fighter. He does not go for knock outs, he dances around the ring throwing pillow punches and then wins from points because that's what works for him. Here's how it's gonna go. Mayweather hasn't gotten a knockout in about a decade and he sure as shit won't get one here. McGregor is used to getting bludgeoned with kicks and ufc gloves, he won't go down.

McGregor doesn't throw a lot of cheap shots to get points from the shot counts. He makes his punches count. If McGregor throws something it connects and it staggers the fuck out of the other guy. He's gonna tag Mayweather a few times and make him wobbly. But just a few, Mayweather is a defensive master and very few shots will connect.

Also, Mayweather is lame as fuck in his old age because he doesn't get knockouts or have any great power. He has two tools, hug and show flurries. If the other guy is connecting Mayweather hugs until the ref saves him. He does this like 5 times in a minute span.

Then Mayweather does show fluries. He knows, sure as shit, he won't get a knockout so he throws quick combos of like 3-5 shots with no power behind them to get a win by decision from the shot count.

This is why Mayweather has gotten a win by decision in several fights where the other guy connected the only shots that mattered. Unfortunately boxing puts way more weight into the number of shots connected over the shots that connected solidly and rattled the opponent.

That's why Mayweather wins by decision in a hug and show flurry fight. It will be dull as fuck to watch like the Paquio (sp?) fight.

Connor is a MMA fighter albeit with a very strong left hook that can compete with many boxers, he's at his prime and can take a lot of punishment but he's trained for MMA so he's got a hurdle or two in terms of natural reflex to overcome. If his training goes well enough and he manages to condition many of his reactions to that of a boxer he's got a very good fighting chance.

Mayweather is a seasoned champ, the odds are in his favour but he's hardly in his prime any more. since he's fighting on his terms he's got a better chance and mostly must avoid mcgreggors left hook, which he's more than definitely aware of, unless he falls for dumb baits and trades and gets a hit too many he should be fine.

In terms of mental strain though, mayweather has a lot more to lose and Conor is great at playing mental games, he's definitely a cocky asshole who knows how to hype for money but in his preshow acts he can rile up his opponents enough to make them susceptible to dumb baits, in all honesty though I don't think mayweather should/would fall for that shit since he's been in the game for long enough but greater boxers have fallen prey to dumber men.

If you're to ask me who'd win, my honest opinion is that most of these televised sports events are rigged, look at the overall picture, whoevers victory leaves the bookies in the negative will not win, this has had very few exceptions in history and will more than likely be the case again.
