Now we can concentrate on the things that make the show great. Not scifi hijinks and wacky sillyness. It's about feelings and emotional growth and changing the people in our lives into what we want them to be.

Also the renewed focus on Beth and Summer in the series is a welcome departure. Hopefully they'll change the title next year to Beth and Summer.

i feel like season 3 is just trying to be the ending of the episode with the hivemind girl friend where rick attempts suicide because of he realizes how much of a destructive person he is and no one wants to be with him. seasons 3 would be great if episode 2 and 3 were more depressing. because what i think is going to happen is morty and summer are going to stop "using intelligence to justify sickness" and move on to be less destructive and more caring people, isolating them selves more from rick. but beth and rick will stay behind in their nihilistic life style of cold hard feelingless lives. but another conflict will be is that it will still be rick and morty. and while rick becomes more and more isolated, morty becomes more and more caring. i think what episode 2 and 3 are missing is showing more of this path of isolation between the grandkids and rick and beth. god the more and more i think about this the more i keep writing out my own version of season 3.

tldr: i think the story of season 3 will become about the family being more caring people. but rick will stay behind in his own isolated world of cold unfeelingness, isolating them. but at the same time the writers arent showing this path of isolation well.
