Walmart, as a company, really isn't that bad. It really isn't. What can make a good thing crumble is shitty locals, shitty store management which reflects in shitty employees. As a whole though, walmart is ok. If it weren't, it wouldn't have done so well.

I don't understand people with the don't give a shit attitude towards their job, either. I absolutely hate my job and my boss(small, private owned company. He is the only owner), literally make pennies compared to his profits. But I actually bust my ass, a little too much I like to think, and do the job exactly how he likes it which is hard because there is a much easier way half the time. The other two guys I work with do the bare minimum and do it the "easy" way. He pulled me aside after work last week and told me I was getting a 15% pay raise while the other guys get nothing, as well as a mid summer bonus in my next pay check.

So TL;DR - actually giving a damn and doing your job properly does have its bonuses. My job fucking sucks and is exhausting every day but actually working hard paid off for me
