Everything was great in my country until the government decided to outsource or outright sell off utilities and providers to private companies......
Then services went to shit. Staff were cut to reduce costs, products (like electricity, gas, internet, mobile towers etc) were cheapened with a longer lifespans rather than pushing newer technologies (cheaper), costs went up over time (to cover 'rising costs' while CEO's still got their bonus') and customer service went down the shitter since they knew we didn't have a choice.

The private sector is fantastic for many industries..... but utilities, education and medical providers consecutively fail the public when given to the highest bidder with profit surpassing the needs of the user.

Markets are great, they make the tides rise and everyone's financially better off than they were 100 years ago. But I still think we need some oversight for the free market; you could argue that government meddling caused the housing market crash in 2008, but still I think the market was under-regulated rather than over-regulated.

If I can sell you securities with a bunch of loans tied up in them, and nobody checks to see if these people are good credit risks, then I've done an irresponsible job selling you that security. Especially if I know the underwriting is bad, it should be a crime, tantamount to fraud. There should be no situation where the government has to bail out banks and subsidize losses, when they don't share in gains.

And how do you promote family values? By either incentivising them somehow or by restricting alternative social structures, both of which require some amount of government authority to enact.

Also having more money doesn't increase liberty. If you're free to do something but can't afford it that's not a lack of freedom, and being able to afford it doesn't make you somehow freer than your poorer neighbor. You're conflating freedom to act as you choose with the capacity to do so.

Having no family responsibilites and having no family values are not the same thing. If I have no family responsibilities would mean that I don't have a family. Having strong family values like waiting until marriage before having children not only statistically reduces poverty not only for the parents but also for the child.

Mkay, but that's still not promoting corn. What is your point?

Again, if you want to promote family values, you have to incentivise people to maintain them or punish them for not. Otherwise you're just letting be what may, not promoting anything.

Regardless, single parenthood isn't something people do because of incentives; it's not a financial decision, it's a decision made when one parent is better off, or feels they'd be better of, without the other. I have no idea what country you live in that you believe actually incentivises people enough to be single parents that people actually view that as preferable to a traditional family under normal circumstances.

You might not become a single parent because of financial reasons but you have no reason to find a suitable partner when the state pays for your food and rent.

And who cares if I'm talking about incentivising one thing or simply not incentivising the opposite in what I clearly stated from the start was simply the first step.
>You can start by not incentivising single parenthood. If a person wants to hurt themselves and their children in that way they have every right but why should we reward them for it?

I've said time and time and now time again that halting the incentives for the opposite is not the equivalent to promoting something. It's just no longer promoting the opposite, that's it.

In order to promote something, you have to take action that promotes it, i.e. incentives or restrictions. Otherwise you're not doing anything, which is not promotion.

You're retarded. If you're currently offering incentives for the antithesis of something you want to promote then removing those incentives will promote the first.

If you aren't getting paid by the government for being single with kids then you will find a parter to share the financial burden or you will be less likely to leave your partner in the first place.

I didnt say that you stupid fuck. Progress is great but look at whats happening in china for example. They are building cities for millions just for the sake of progress while nobody can afford to live there. So you see I could say the same about your precious progress.

I respect tradition because I respect my ancestors who died building up what I have now and would not like to throw that away. Do you believe people before us were stupid or what? In todays modern and progressive world people are becoming fucking morons more than ever. You would think that because of the internet and all of the information people would be more intelligent but they still stay ignorant. All from what I see in young people nowadays are fucking dumbasses who think they are some sort of genius.

>>
Here it goes
>>
>>741361561
Tradition keeps families and local communities connected. What these communities are "doing" is looking out for each others wellbeing as only a person who knows you personally ever possibly could.

Tradition is linked to culture. I believe culture and tradition give value to a nation. They give value to the individuals of the nations.

We need to keep connected to our past and history. Ensuring we respect and maintain tradition and culture is integral to this as it's something which is naturally implemented into the minds of the individual based on their own experience and exposure to traditions and culture and history.

Without history and culture we can't learn from our mistakes.. to say they are useless is arrogant and offensive.

So because people solved the problems they had in the past a certain way, we should continue using their solution? Hell I thought indoor plumbing was pretty nifty, but people used to use aqueducts, so I guess that's better because tradition.

And you literally only celebrate Christmas because other people do and told you to. If no one ever told you about Christmas or winter holidays, you'd have no reason to celebrate on that specific day or with any of the specific customs associated with those holidays.

>>741362103
I responded to every point you made in that post, but yeah I guess I'm just being selective.

>>741362302
You can believe they have value all you want, doesn't make it so.

>We need to keep connected to our past and history
Why? We should remember lessons of the past; what does that have to do with observing tradition?

Tradition and culture are not mutually inclusive by any means. Disregarding tradition doesn't mean eradicating culture.

Disregarding tradition doesn't mean forgetting history.

The only reason I even talk about the subject of keeping tradition and culture is because right now Europe is having their culture raped by the huge unflux of refugees and refugees having huge families.

The elites of the world know how dumb and small the memory of the average human is. Without tradition and culture our history becomes forgotton and we become more blind and confused as individuals.

Tradition =/= culture.

Culture his on overall common to mankind. Tradition is the bastard brother that leads to nationalism on stupid levels. You can share culture and learn from each other this way while traditions can only confront themselves.

Most people fail to understand the differences between them.

Here is an example:

- A migrant from middle east can share his culture with you and you can share yours with him. You both keep your own culture and learn a bit from the other one.

- A migrant wants to live following his tradition in a foreign country. He can't stay in a community unless the hosts accept to damage their own traditions.
>>
>>741363362
You're pretty much the past, like 191X past.
>>
>>741363041
And again, tradition =/= culture. And those refugees that are threatening to dilute Europe's culture? They're just following tradition! Why should they adapt and progress when there's clearly so much value in continuing to do things as you've done them in the past?

Pretty sure tradition doesn't magically improve people's intellect, memory, or historical knowledge.

I will also clarify that doing away with tradition for the sake of incontinuity is equally stupid. Farmers "traditionally" harvest in the fall, but they'd do that regardless of what was done in the past.

This cannot be correct. I was informed by /srs/ /2xC/ and the twitter trust and safety council that I am in fact a racist sexist alt-right neo nazi troll.

Side note, these fucking questionaires are bullshit and lemme tell you why; they don't go further in depth with any of their questions.
Example;
> It is important that we maintain the traditions of our past
Which ones? Placing a cultural, meaning greater than legal, importance on values such as the Freedom to Speak without reprimand for our opinions and ideas? Or ones like Racism/Sexism/Homophobia? Because the first one is pretty fucking important in my opinion, and the second not so much.
This should be a sorta 2pronged questionaire approach, where they give you the SA/A/N/D/SD and a handful of the most common answers as to WHY a person feels this way. Otherwise the questions become inherently loaded and the results lose credibility.

Other examples;
> Genetic modification is good even in humans
We talking about fixing retards and siamese twins while they're in the womb or making pretty babies?
> We should open our borders to immigration
Immigrants who do not register with the federal census bureau and file a W-2 or ones that do?
> All people - regardless of factors like culture or sexuality - should be treated equally.
We talking about zoophiles and child molesters or fags and trannys?

You claim a thing that absolutely does exist in the minds of the voters doesn't exist.
It could be made manifest, but you, and people like you, claim it cannot ever function. This creates a self-fufilling prophecy of defeatism that prevents centrism from even becoming a legitimate thing in the first place, much less being around long enough to assess its weaknesses and function as a proper political foundation for a legitimate party or candidate.
You create this disparity. The divide between efficacy and reason. You create Hillary, you create Trump.

Traditions are also good for giving a baseline way for people to behave when interacting with eachother, so you don't end up with 30 thousand tiny groups who all hate the rest because they're different.

I started and stopped. The questions would produce misleading answers... like, I am against oppression by corporations, but against them forcing everyone to embrace sexual deviance with their threats to boycott any state that wants to preserve human decency. So yeah, fuck corporations, but that's because I hate how they're driving progressive filth.

Had to stop and think on this one haha.

...Yeah a few times. Voted for a Senator once I really liked. A House member I liked, and a few local elections, but for POTUS, no, never got behind one option totally.

I had to hold my nose when I voted for Marco Rubio this time, myself.

Who did you like the most during the primaries?

What do you think of Trump's work thus far?

Um lets see, During the Primaries, it was a toss up that I ended up narrowing it down to who's tax plan I liked best and that brought me to Ted Cruz...

Trump so far. Man I'll be real with everyone. I had hoped that he would actually "TRY", back in January, but he can't control himself with his social media addiction and it is annoying and holding him back, also his lack of communication between him and his Admin is choking their ability to govern. Also I think his lack of experience is a huge pitfall, and by that I mean he is very unused to the idea of checks and balances. He does not have sole authority to do what he wants, and I feel he hasn't learned that yet.

All that in addition to the leaks, the identity politics that has gripped the Congress, and the so called "deep state" meme, I don't know, so far I'd give the current Admin a C-.

I agree with some parts of his agenda so I want to give him the benefit of the doubt, I mean it is still early.
The wall is a waste of time/money. Just enforce current law please.
Fake News meme needs to die.

27 years old, voted for sanders in the primaries.

Fucking hate Clinton, fairly well hate Trump but like him more than Killary.

Voted third party in the actual election to help boost their numbers, and because I couldn't get behind any of the actual candidates.

>>
>>741383169
Leaks have always been a thing in government, but this is ridiculous. Half time they are fake, or made up and all come from Anonymous sources. How do they happen? Could be some jr level intern looking to make a name, or a bitter employee, maybe. I don't know, but I don't think that every single one is some deep planted Obama/Clinton bureaucrat trying to destroy this Admin from the inside out. But maybe they are? But EVERY TIME a leak pops up its almost always from the "deep state"

Come on, 24 hour "news" networks will cling to anything thing for ratings

But if they're just from some loser, why wasn't it like this in previous administrations?

Also, why wouldn't a wall make border enforcement easier?

>why wasn't it like this in previous administrations?
Hmph, I've already said I don't know, just my opinions. Maybe because of how anti-Trump the media is people who might not have normally leaked under, say Obama or Bush, are more inclined to do so for that "15 mins of fame" Thinking of that young girl that got busted a few months ago...Justice something, I can't remember. Didn't she do it because "fuck drumpf"

>why wouldn't a wall make border enforcement easier?
The Mexican border is long. The wall has to be big. That makes it's construction long and expensive. I think those funds could go elsewhere. But let's say its built. Will it really keep illegals from crossing? Sure foot traffic would drop by some degree I'm sure but enough to justify the cost? We won't until years later at any rate.
Wouldn't enforcing current law on the books have just a similar effect? Hell the say just Trump's rhetoric has caused foot traffic to drop.
>>
>>741384678
>15 mins of fame

More like a week if you watch CNN.
I don't recall that girl.

The benefits of the wall are multifaceted.
Like you said, the number of illegals has drop just because of the language in the White House. No wall is impenetrable, but every hurdle discourages attempts.

A wall would make border and immigration enforcement easier due to there being fewer illegals in the country. It could be argued that maintaining a steel and concrete structure is cheaper than employing more ICE agents.

Where do you think this money could be better used?

Dealing with Kessler syndrome in lieu of all the companies and entities trying to launch networks of satellites within the next decade.
Dealing with the issue/s of automation.
Dealing with opiod/drug addiction.
Dealing with so-called drug-infested New Hampshire and other alleged failing cities; dealing with inner cities.
Dealing with poverty.
Dealing with energy costs and energy generation; making investments and decommissioning expensive, aging energy generation plants for more efficient facilities.
Paying insurance companies the money the previous administration offered to settle with so they don't raise rates on Americans, all the while there not existing a replacement for the health care system let alone any known, foreseeable future of repeal.
Dealing with infrastructure across America.
Deciding to put more money in defense spending.
Dealing with public schooling.

>Where do you think this money could be better used?
Just off the top of my head without getting too long winded...Why not try, not spending? Our debt is growing by the minute.
On a real level, maybe into existing infrastructure that already exist, the roads, bridges and levees here in Louisiana are garbage.
Pump that billions into fixing the VA. The only group of people (just in my opinion) who should have true, free healthcare is our Vets.
I'm sure there are plenty of domestic issues needing more money. Public education is one. Trump did promise to help inner city families and schools during the campaign I believe.
